This could be a legal minefield if any of the others show some spine....clearly the single is bound to be delayed and I believe that is the real intention here
They can easily tell everyone/ claim innocence; that they tried but legal hurdles are beyond their control.
Nothing is certain according to him. IMG-R has said nothing so far about merger. They cannot fool FIFA which still recognises I-league as official. what will happen if I-League clubs should refuse to merge with ISL. They cannot close down I-league as FIFA will never recognise private ISL.
@ArsenalFan700 ; 1) If FIFA sanctioning was possible to ISL, they would not have been thinking of merging two leagues. Instead they would have been saying that current I-league clubs can bid for the Franchises which they have named, Chennai, Pune etc. 2) If FIFA sanction was possible, they would have done that? 3) FIFA also would not have to reassert again and again that they recognise I-League as official. 4) FIFA took no action on all the controversies-whether it is delayed payment or fracas/fight in the Finals. Because FIFA do not interfere in leagues which they do not recognise. 5) If FIFA recognition is possible and ISL is deliberately not taking it, what are they hiding then?

Now 2017 became 2018. IMG-R has been "Quiet as a Mouse" on thise merger issue. Unless I see some statements from them that they want a merged league or they want to achieve FIFA recognition, I will not celebrate.
