@DX ; from your comment  1) ISL teams are expected to adhere to AFC norms   2) When books have to be disclosed genuine owners will be known to all

Why not do it? Who is stopping them? Maybe after that, people opposing ISL will start supporting it. All leagues around the world do it. Why cant ISL do it? You expect Aizawl FC to follow all the norms but ISL cannot?

I really miss the old long I-league season
I feel like AIFF deserves much more blame than IMG-R

@munna219777 They don't have to? At this point the league is just 2-3 months long with no intentions of playing in Asia. They don't have to "pass" the AFC licensing criteria yet but if this "merger" does happen, they will.

It really is not a complicated answer people.

@Deb_Ban 6 Indians + 5 foreigners that are the equal to better than high class I-League foreigners is still better than "Good old I-League"... esspecially with better coaches.

    Why not 7 indians + 4 foreigners?

Munna, Yes i expect Aizwal to adhere to the norms as they are playing the official league of India.
If ISL is the official league of India then its a given they need to adhere to the norms

Gaffer, Lets not preach to the converted, I well and truly know Bengaluru was supposed to get it not Chennai. Doesnt mean i suddenly discover my love for football.

The failures of i-league is evident. We aint a country were football is everywhere and its survival of the fittest clubs. Clubs are closing down because of the lack of exposure and financial opportunity you get from i-league.
There has never been effort from AIFF to cultivate football in non traditional hubs.
BFC being a freak incident they went suddenly gung-ho on corporates and what do you get? A couple of Corporates from Pune? one closing down while another trying hard but still finishing last.

Where was the effort put in to persuade corporates like JCT, Mahindra and Peninsula to maintain clubs in I-league? Why couldnt they ensure Air India & ONGC to adhere AFC club licensing norms to ensure they stayed back too? What happened to Indian Bank & HAL? Both of these were from non traditional hubs like Chennai and Bengaluru.

The issue is always seen as to  why people move over to ISL. Its also a reason why AIFF botches up everything and had to submit to IMG for management.

I-league's days are numbered. Not that i wanted it but because it modelled poorly that way.

@ArsenalFan700 , 5 foreigners in a 7 month league will not be Ronaldinho-quality, they would be more like Glenn or Mendi quality :D. Clubs would not be able to afford them, if there is such a thing called economics.

Who says the clubs would not be able to afford them? The marquee player salary is now separate from the salary cap and teams will just have to pay for an extra what, 3-4 months? That is affordable if they also lower the amount of foreigners overall in the squad from 11 to say 7-8.

    But no, keep talking economics.
