I am not stupid to say Zico is not a legend neither I am defaming him. I am  just saying, he is old  now and his ratings of Ranti Martins doesnt matter just like his certification of Romeo didnt. So Martins didnt click in FC Goa, same situation was with Rohan Rickets in Dempo, doesnt make them bad footballers. Also unless proven otherwise, I firmly believe, these way past their prime managers like Zico will encash their name and fame to operate in ISL. I agree with Deepak, he doesnt have it in him anymore to actually manage a proper team in a proper league. I mean even Nicholas Anelka, who has banned from European clubs for a anti-semitic gesture managed an ISL team,  even @ArsenalFan700  can manage FC Goa :D

Just like Harm van Veldhoven found it hard to find a job after leaving Delhi Dynamos? Zico can find a job outside of India if he wanted to... he probably did take the cash-in for ISL though. Ranti Martins did not click in ISL but the difference between the way he played in the league compared to I-League is night and day and you can not deny it. Same with any I-League player. Tolgay Ozbey, Penn Orji... some of them were effective but nowhere near as good as they usually are in I-League. They went from the stars of the league to squad players.

Rohan Ricketts is another story which I have talked to him about and which honestly there is more to than meets the eye.

Nicolas Anelka was a lazy attempt by Mumbai City which they have fixed now with their new coach signing.

i-League is way more competitive than ISL, all players domestic and foreign acknowledge that, so I dont know what are you saying about the difference. Or do you mean Martins played below his potential in ISL? Ozbey, Penn went to ISL a good 3-4 years after their prime form.

Meh, depends on what you mean by competitive. On any day, any ISL team could win a game against another ISL team and the same could be said about I-League but I feel that is more true about ISL than I-League.

As for the difference, you are smart enough to know what I meant. Don't give me this good 3-4 years off their prime form when Tolgay Ozbey scored 10 goals the season before ISL and Ranti Martins can still put them in as if it is no problem in ISL (as well as Cornell Glenn, a guy who left MLS as a 1 goal in 21 game striker a few years ago)

Calling I league more competitive and tougher than ISL (based primarily on the increased number of foreign imports in the latter ) is plain crazy. In that sense I league second division is more competitive and tougher than I league and ISL.

I League being more competitive than ISL? That's the most silly statement I have ever heard today. Is that supposed to be a joke? Cause if it is one, then that's a very lame attempt.
Players like Ranti would have at least played in some foreign country to prove their worth. I'm not disrespecting their talent cause they have proved themselves in I-League. But, good enough for ISL? I don't think so. Ranti has always played in India. Never tried to go abroad or never got the opportunity. They simply ain't that level technically. Players lkike Tuncay Sanli and Zakora and others like Malouda were a treat to watch last season. Way above what Indian leagues have ever seen. That's why they played in some of the biggest leagues at least once in their lives.
Ranti doesn't make the cut for me at least. Tolgay was still a good player some season back until he had the big fat belly of his. Penn is a great young player.

"once in their lives...." Malouda would barely get into a championship side now...leave alone the big guns...while Mil Chon Son/ quero (dsk)/norde probably would...IMG's circus is a retirement home, simply bcoz pseudo European fans like @coolgagan are happy with anything which was touched by Europe once...... How many of the ISL coaches even watch domestic leagues to understand their players? & scout for new talent? Its a couple of months of fabulous money for acting to be a coach of players they hardly know....and the less talked about their investments in infrastructure the better....tomorrow if MCFC close they wouldn't leave a renovated office space as testimony leave alone a training facility or a proper academy We all saw one of ISL superstars performed in the saw called easy ileague....and DON'T tell about being played out of position...he was played there as he was NO MATCH for a 40 year old random Nigerian

    1. Mil chon son, Norse, quero 'might' get into championship side but  Mendoza and Hume would walk into those sides with ease.
2.How many I league coaches watch their budding players? If guys like Lord passi play in the league then that says a lot about the league's scouting .
3.The investments by the ileague clubs have been so massive that they all have world class stadiums , and the youth academies?, they have been churning great players thanks to whom we are now 160 in the FIFA rankings.
