One thing that I hope comes out of this is no STAR Sports bullshit ownership... they should compete for TV rights, not hold a monopoly.

Who will Star sports actually compete with? No real rivals for them mate and will be unfair given they are also part owners of ISL just to let it go knowing the concept has picked up.

Sony Pictures can bid for the rights like they will do with the IPL. Ya, it is probably an unrealistic dream since STAR Sports has ownership of the league but that is such a stupid thing to begin with. All leagues around the world get their best revenues from TV sponsorship and STAR Sports owning the league just devalues it so much.

Personally I like Sony [ESPN] better than STAR Sports. STAR Sports is crap. They have nice flashy cameras and shit but other than that I am not that pleased with them. Look at the commotion when the Champions League T20 might have happened with ISL? Notice how all their leagues never intersect with each other as well. ISL, HIL, PKL occur at different times and in the same format pretty much.

I hope Star gives the clubs a respectable amount each year like 2-5 Cr
otherwise it would severely affect the clubs fianancially in the long run

@ArsenalFan700 ; But that is not always the case. See Star Sports is also showing Ranji Trophy of Cricket. It clashes with various Masala Leagues but there is no compromise by either BCCI or Star sports to change the scheduling of Ranji Trophy. I wonder why cant they have the same mindset when Dimestic Indian Football is concerned.

The problem here, ISL and IMG-R should be worried about merger not the AIFF and I-League.  IMG-R should be worried about the their acceptance in AIFF and I-league not the other around.

If IMG-R create the structure as follows:
    3 Tiers

    ISL with 10 teams
I-league with 10 teams ( no promotion to ISL)
    2nd Division 12 teams ( promotion to I-League)

I-League clubs should stage a protest ..as ISL isn't sanctioned by FIFA

The only way I-League clubs like SCdeGOA or Salgaocar should agree is if they are given a share of the TV rights and can generate revenue from match day advertising  ( at the moment AIFF/ IMG-R gets almost all the hoardings by the side of the playing field)

2nd Division clubs should demand the same.

At the moment it looks like PP will try to divide and rule...
East Bengal and Mohun Bagan and BFC might be given a green light to join  on the grounds of performance and financial strength.

Lajong will not be able to sustain ISL type spending and neither can the 2 Goan clubs.

Mumbai FC and DSK have existing ISL franchises in their city who could try to buy them out of merge .

STAR Sports are not seeing the return on investment that they see in Kabaddi.

The best players will never come to India...not with the CSL competing with Europe and MLS..so the current format of watching oldies will soon die a slow death.

The ISL is doomed whichever way you try to look at it...
    One thing is for sure.....
10 years down the line....we will still be around 150 in the world and no closer to qualifying for a World Cup than a Tajikistan or Uzbekistan
