The first MLS season started in April and ended in September, so 6 months... and then one month for playoffs in October. But also had 32 games between 10 teams.
Weekend League matches are always interesting & also good for the players because they get recovery time. Everyday matches may suit the Broadcaster & other decision makers.... but then why to bother about the players ? Hope the Decision makers atleast do something using their common sense. One question....if the merged league even though it may have 10 teams & 18 matches...finishes before the January transfer window....then the players will be contracted for about 6 m. Will it create a problem to obtain FIFA/AFC recognition ?
According to the IMG employee I talked to before the 2014 season, their "research" told them that having games daily helped their viewership numbers and to keep fans hyped and going to stadiums.
In a longer league that will never work, just look at Major League Baseball and their 162 game schedule.
This basically mean india has no chance to compete at continental level. the AFC cup and ACL starts in Jan and ends in November. if ISL will run from August to December then the qualified club will not have a team as there foreigners would have gone and Indians loaned to tier 2. they will have to play u19 then in AFC. also this is just rebranding of current format of ISL and I-League. only difference is ISL now is official 1st tier.
Dafuq is this planning. The league goes on for 5 months. No problems in that. But, the same Indian players will be loaned to the second tier. This is nothing but the same thing we are seeing nowadays. Indians and good quality foreigners play for 5 months. Foreigners go home. Same Indians and low quality foreigners play for another 5 months. Same Shiz. Who plays the continental championship then? Obviously, ISL clubs should play as they will become official first tier. But, the teams will be disbanded after the league. Worst part is that same Indians will be again playing in ILeague. Everyone would want to loan players from the first division for their tier2 clubs. This gives less opportunity to players currently in second division(then third division to play in tier2). DAFUQ?
Essentially, maybe one or two foreign guys will stay but that won't be enough and for Indians, playing just August to December? What about the rest of the year?

The Indian players can be loaned out....
It's not well thought through...
there are loads of glaring issues
