    F*ing nonsense. MB and EB has to be in tier 1 whenever and if  merger happens. In WB people cannot think of outside MB and EB even now. ATK will loose prominence if what is being said is true

    Though we should not jump into any conclusion, particularly on the basis of a one line report in a vernacular press, I think it is a ploy to re-brand I-league by rubbing in some ISL sheen, and stretch ISL into a six-month league (with all the required AFC certifications etc) and make the two leagues co-exist. And keep IMG-R's stranglehold in top tier Indian football intact.

    Brilliant attempt, I must say. Let's see if the I-league clubs bite this bait. This will be end of road for their continental aspirations (if any) though. And in Kolkata, they would run a risk of tier II clubs being more popular than tier I (though this may get corrected over time).

    AIFF to discuss merger - Round table for club football to be held next Tuesday - 

    -> To have 3 tiers. 

    - > two clubs from I-league will join the top division

    -> Apparently only one I-league club from Kolkata will make it in to the top tier

    -> ATK is expected to merge with one of the Kolkata clubs.

    -> Newly formed top tier will not have relegation for some years. 

    -> I-league to be held for the last time in 2017

    This is how they define "Merger". Keeping EB, MB in separate Tier ??? This looks more like separation then Merger!!! :p

    They have clearly mentioned that one of the Kolkata giants will try to merge with ATK...tgat is not something which worries me....its about goan clubs/slfc...Shillong surely deserves a team even if aizawal maybe not currently simply bcoz of being a "smaller" market. Ill be happy if we have a 12 team top div and 18 team second div with 3-4 psu also in it

    Top Tier will have 3 month long league with matches played every day ?? Top Tier will not be recognised by FIFA / AFC ? Second Tier clubs will represent India in AFC Cup ?
    We have the same arrangement even now.

    I guess league will last for 7 months in total including the pre season with games being played on weekends
