By the way just curious to know the opinion of Penalty claim by Tollygunge Agragami players at the 82nd minute when Dudu handled the ball inside the 6 y box & Pranjal Banerji standing at hand shaking distance looked the other way. Tollygunge were trailing 1-2 at that time. The match was played at the YBK on 16th. Sep '14. Before the start of this match Top of the league Table looked like this: (Remember it was 11 Team League) Mohun Bagan Played 10, Won 8, Drawn 0, Lost 2, Goals For 19, Goals Against 9, Points 24 Tollygunge Agaragami Played 9, Won 7, Drawn 1, Lost 1, Goals For 23, Goals Against 5, Points 22 EBPlayed 9, Won 7, Drawn 1, Lost 1, Goals For 25, Goals Against 7, Points 22 Yes Kolkata Refereeing became a Joke.........some years back.
FIFA's favourite Indian Referee? Could be....because he handles the matches in I-League quite well. But Dr. Jekyll becomes Mr. Hyde as soon he sees one of teams being EB. But then this is now an accepted norm in CFL. Long live Utpal dada.
Hope better sense prevails. Staging a Derby in Kalyani which is not a regular venue for such high voltage match does not look a great prospect. How the makeshift galleries will withstand the crowd when a goal is scored or a chance is missed...God only knows. God forbid.....if there is a mishap all these guys...Utpal & co will point fingers to others. Why Utpal has not yet gone to Kalyani to see the situation personally ? Why he could not make RS Stadium available....knowing ages back that YBK would not be available ? Idiotic obsession of Utpal may well prove costly.....though I sincerely hope no more tragedy occurs. Why Utpal is so keen to hold the match in a stadium with temporary structure ? Can Kalyani Railway Station manage about 15k volatile fans (half of them would be boiling after the match) ? If Kolkata Police (with all their experience in managing sporting crowd) shies away from holding the Derby at the Mohun Bagan ground then how the hell one would feel safe at Kalyani ? Utpal Ganguly is a disgrace.
I also believe if there is any crowd trouble...the local Police who have no experience of controlling a Derby crowd may start indiscriminate lathicharge & another 16th. August could happen. Safety of the fans (of both Mohun Bagan & EB), players, club officials is much more important than the inflated ego of Utpal. Let Utpal get submerged in his ego but he has no right to play with lives.
