Same thing happened few years back when this theory was propagated that if we remove PSU teams like Air India, ONGC India will magically get a spot in ACL. Nothing of that sort happened.
@ArsenalFan700 ; yeah calculation suggested that if all Indians clubs adopted the AFC criteria, we would have had qualified in the old system. AFC's tweak to the system to account national performance damaged any advantage we gained from removing the PSU teams. (Back to square one)
P.s. PSU teams had to become a separate entity which required special permission from the parliament.

From what I remember, India were close to not even being allowed to get into the qualifiers for the ACL unless we removed them, Pailan Arrows etc.
