So BFC is quick to follow the footsteps of Kolkata clubs after their initial honeymoon period is over!
Norales' - must be the finest foreigner signed by BFC till date
People here were signing praise abt this guy when he was signed - simply b'cos it was BFC and according to some here,BFC can never go wrong with player selection, and all that the Kolkata clubs do, is to inflate the price tag of undeserving foreigners! Lets face it - there is no substitute for experience especially if they are 100+ years' club! It is only Kolkata club's mgmt who are blamed for accepting cut money, while we talk of highly professional setup of BFC - so much so that one agent has almost the entire "fauj" of him representing the club!
Its time to get over from the obsession of BFC and think and comment accordingly - which befits the forum.
Oh get over yourself. Norales didn't fit with the team, it happens... shit happens. He seemed like a good signing at the time, did very well in Honduras, had people commenting saying good things about him and had teams in MLS who wanted him. He didn't even look bad when he played!
Every club will have a "dud" signing. It is part of the game. Not every player will turn out great.
I'll be very interested in seeing who Bengaluru FC bring in as a replacement.
Aah! Didnt know that guys who are seeked by MLS clubs can jump so awkwardly defying any football logic to connect the ball with his head (in case u have seen his attempt against CB)!
i wont really blame Roca - is new to India and doesn't seem to have much knowledge about Indian football. His CV is impressive. Given the time, he would definitely do better - but not with the kinda signings they have made. Am sure, had Ashley been there he would have put his foot down and wouldn't have had these crap signings in the team. Now, this guy doesn't have a choice - atleast in the first year.
The vision of BFC was different to start with and hence Ashley was calling the shots on footballing matter, hence there was a proper setup. Now they feel, the foundation is led and hence trying to take over and the results are evident..
It's too early to say BFC going the Pune FC or Kolkata clubs way. It's unfortunate what happened with Roby, but these things happen.
Firstly after the AFC Cup they wanted to keep Rubio, but he wanted to go back to Spain. Then they finalised an Argentine striker from Honduras League who ditched at the last moment to go to Mexico. Roby was signed at the last moment, albeit with not enough scouting. This is what Roca said before the signing,
"... He will miss the first match probably. It will be a difficult mission (to sign him before that). I am not worried about that. We knew it was not easy because we didn’t have enough time. You know how it works. Sometimes you have almost signed a player and finally for strange reasons, a player doesn’t want to come or the agents in the middle break the deal. So it’s quite difficult."
Also clubs not getting a proper pre-season before the league is another big factor. Roby or Amirov could easily have been brought in for trial and then finalise the deal. The clubs had no time to do that. Thai and Malaysian clubs bring in many foreigners for pre-season before finalising them. And rich clubs like Buriram loan out 2-3 foreigners every season to other clubs, with option of signing them in mid-season window. These things happen everywhere.
