In their current squad they have Diogo Luis Santo, one of my favourite players (signed for JDT from Buriram in 2019). Also some very good Malaysian players too.
Defeating the defending champions is any day a huge achievement.
Defeating a Japanese team is massive achievement, but we should know J leagues don't take ACL seriously and play the bench wormers in ACL, like Indian clubs used to do in past in AFC cup, like I remember baljit sanhi was main striker for EB in AFC cup but he could not get a start in I league.
But what make JDT so superior against BFC ? Their foreign players?? Still 3+1 rule applied right , then Malaysian players , are they too good than BFC Indian players ???
In 2015, Indonesian club Persipura Jayapura defeated Bengaluru FC two times in AFC Cup.
JDT also defeated BFC 2-1 in AFC Champion league playoffs in the same year.
Due to different Group system in AFC Cup, we dont get opportunity to play against their clubs nowadays but this impression that Indian clubs are better then clubs of those countries is wrong.
