World Cup qualification process for Africa is stupidest…
first round: elimination of 10 teams based on 2 legs… ok similar process in Asia as well. These are low ranked team… so no issues…
second round: 10 groups of 4 AND ONLY GROUP WINNER QUALIFIES FOR NEXT ROUND… this is utter stupid and luck dependant. If you are in tough group, you will suffer ( this year Ivory Coast and Cameroon is same group)
Final round: 10 teams 5 goes through based on 2 legged matches…. Again luck depending utter stupidity
Only positive think I could say is second string team say like Oman, Syria or Lebanon (using Asian teams for example) can fancy playing World Cup if luck allows…

this 2nd round sucks. also the represtentation of african nations is less . just 5 teams . if AFC has 4.5 slots, then african nations deserves atleast 10. maybe what they could have done is to select 6 best runners up also. then it will be 10+6 = 16 teams in next round. a knock out round with 2 leg playoffs will bring down teams to 8. then have a quarter finals out of which 4 teams will be winners which will qulify for WC. Then amongt 4 losing teams, either play a round robin format just like our i league qualifiers and the winners go through. or they play a semi finals draw with 2 legged playoffs , then again a 2 legged final playoffs to pick a winner.
UEFA has 13 slots amongst 55 members, CAF 5 (54 members) AFC 4.5(47 members) CONMEBOL 4.5 (10 members), CONCACAF 3.5 (41 members) OFC 0.5 (13 members). Europe has far too many slots they should be reduced to 10 and AFC and CONCAF should upgrade to 5 and 4.5 respectively, CAF should get 7 and OFC should get a full slot.
Can't reduce Europe they have lots of good teams, everything will change next WC as World cup is expanding Asia will get 8 slots, Europe will get 26, Africa 10, CONCACAF 6, conmebol 8, ofc 1
With this change, most benefitted federation is conmebol ( 6 direct + possibility of 1 additional slot via playoffs) followed by CAF, AFC & CONCACAF and most benefitted nation is New Zealand (OFC) .

Europe gets 16 , Africa - 9 & conmebol - 6
There are 2 playoff spots in finals. UEFA is not eligible for play-off spot.
