If Persipura or Chonburi wins the AFC cup then the points put up by EB fans can be considered as genuine but otherwise should be considered as mere excuses for non-performance. Do they mean to say that the above teams play better football then Nasaf?
well!! it's true that chonburi and persipura were superior sides than east bengal. And i don't have any shame in telling that. B'coz i can't change the true fact.
And now tell me, wats the link of nasaf here?? I couldn't understand why did you bring nasaf in this conversation.
and just another query, what do you mean by NON PERFORMANCE??
Mind your words mister
Dear imsourav you had mentioned earlier that EB was in tough group. Was not Dempo also in tough group as they had Nasaf in that which many consider to be the potential cup winners. I dont have anything against EB. I sincerely want them to reach great heights but i feel disappointed because they play to their full potential only with MB. The mentality of EB it appears is only to beat MB & some other Indian clubs. I feel they had the capability to do better than what they achieved at the AFC level. It pained me badly because they didnt qualify for the round of 16.

But you can't deny the fact that the deserving teams reached the knock outs. And eb's performance was good. That's it

EB Deserved to be in the round of 16 but they gave a below par performance. The current squad is great but they are not aware of their capabilities. Maybe the concerned officials were not serious about their AFC campaign. Nowadays EB gives quality performance only against Indian teams specially against MB. I sincerely hope that they change this crap mentality of theirs & win against foreign teams to make Indians proud.

well if you say that, then i'll say east bengal is the most successfull club of india against foreign clubs. And i'm not telling a lie. Just check records or you can even confirm this with any football historian.

As eb was established earlier the no of wins should not count but you have to see the highest round played in a continental tournament and in that context dempo has the edge over eb as dempo have played in semis of afc cup while eb could reach only the qfs

I congratulate EB winning against Dempo eventhough i am bit depressed by the result. I only hope EB shows the same passion while playing against foreign clubs rather then concentrate all their energies against MB & Dempo.

Earlier, the second half play was
delayed for few minutes as the
visitors refused to field players
after Ogba Kalu fell unconcious
following hit by some kind
missile on the sidelines during
resting time.
Match Commissioner Walter
Pereira intervened to persuade
coach Armando Colaco to carry
one play.
My say: This is a peculiar trademark of Kolkata fans. They believe in winning by hook or crook with only couple of Indian teams. Imagine if this would have happen to EB player in Goa, the match would have been awarded to EB with deductions in Dempo's points & Dempo would had to play their remaining matches with closed doors. But the AIFF cannot dare to take action against EB in the present context.

Dear Archak and Jose12,

It is pure audacity on your part to criticize kolkata football fans. Why should we change and become like yours? In everywhere, the flair of football is different, varies by region to region. That is why it is so much diversified. Yes, we don't care anything except winning trophies, and yes, we are proud of that. Along with becoming 3 times league champion east bengal also became runner up 3 times. But we hate to say that. being a runner up and getting 10th position is same for us. This is the force which always drives kolkata football. we do not want to become like goan supporters, it is as straight as that. we play football to win.

And except for the last few years what kind of revolution happened due to gaon football? You think becoming champion for 5 times at a row gives you power and you can freely criticize kolkata football? Please do not forget for last 6 decades kolkata ruled club football and it will continue to do that in the future. also, please do not talk about spines. When alberto colaco become gen sec of aiff, every attempt was done to thwart kolkata teams. In every season, kolkata teams got roughest deal from the referee, so that goan team can become champions. I remember Mohunbagan's last NFL championship year. referee awarded some unprecedented bad decision against MB, so that Churchill Brothers could become champion by a draw in the homeground. I remember that is the only time I supported MB, in spite of my reservation for them. I was delighted that with a broken team, they went on to lift the NFL title by beating CB 3-1.

Therefore it is important to acknowledge the difference between football fans of different region without being a moral policeman. Those hooligan's who threw stones at Kalu is not a representation of kolkata football fans. Go on and ask your own players like beto, mahesh, yakubu, alvito about kolkata fans. Nobody will get that much respect in Goa.

We are the only team in India who won two international competitions. for the last few years for some internal politics in the clubs we could not recruit some good foreigners like goan teams, and that is the cause of the bad result.

I am not critizing the true fans of kolkata. I am critizing those stupid hooligans and the idiot officials who donot take actions against them. Such incidents should be dealt strictly and we fans(true fans) need to take some countermeasure so that new fans of both gender can come to the stadium with some peace in their mind. With the hooligans removed players can play to their full potential and will not fear that they might be attacked just because they played better than their opposition.
