Hope we get to see some exciting football from Denzil.
PANAJI: Danish club FC Midtjylland (FCM), who have a tie-up with India’s Goa-based football powerhouse Dempo Sports Club Pvt.Ltd have already agreed to accept two Dempo U-16 footballers for a six-month elaborate training in Denmark.
If things work out as per plan, the boys could be well on their way to Denmark as early as next month but subject to their parents’ consent. Dempo Group chairman, Mr Shrinivas V Dempo disclosed about the prospective development on Saturday during a media briefing, stating that the names had already been short-listed but he was yet to hear from the club’s coach cum secretary Armando Colaco, who felt it was necessary to convince the boys’ parents before making the necessary move.
Mr Dempo when asked who the Denmark-bound boys were said he is yet to be informed by Armando as FCM had already agreed to accept two U-16 boys.
“FCM has given Dempo club an offer that six months will be good enough to give the boys elaborate training but what we are also trying to see is whether during their 6-month stay they could be accommodated in the school there and whether we need to tie-up both curriculums,” Mr Dempo disclosed.
“FCM want the boys to come there somewhere in January end or in February as they are ready to host them. I am yet to hear from Armando, who has short-listed the two names but he needs to convince their parents,” Mr Dempo added.
The Dempo Group supremo further disclosed that there were plans to bring FCM in Goa in December, similar to the way GFA hosted Zambia last November. “We need to discuss with GFA on how we are going to do it. FCM have expressed their willingness and we need to workout the feasibility,” Mr Dempo added. <!-- s:clap: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/eusa/clap.gif" alt="" title="Clap" /><!-- s:clap: -->
Asked whether Dempo SC could utilise in future FCM players in their top team, Mr Dempo replied in the affirmative saying: “Such a thing happing is very much on the cards. They have an academy in Nigeria. So what they are saying is that those who do not qualify for the first round (for us they are too good), you come and pick them up and we can workout an arrangement.”
Mr Dempo said there could be a second option. “The second one is actually asking them to send their first team, one or two players, for a season or half a season and then take it from there; but the Nigeria thing we can do it quickly,” Mr Dempo quipped.
