Do u mean 400K USD per year for a player. It is close to 3 crore INR and for 3 players alone, it would be 9 Crore . 600k for a striker would add another 4+ crore INR.  Total amount for 4 players is around 13 crores and salary cap for each club is 16.5 crore, and balance will be only 3.5 crore for Indian players.

Even ATKMB and MCFC , would not be able to pay 1 million dollar for one player due to salary cap restrictions.

Transfer fee is not included in Salary cap, that's the reason clubs like ATKMB , MCFC & FC Goa could be able to pay good transfer fee.

Also signing only 4 players is risky. Technically, Indian players are still not yet Foreign player level baring very few players.  Foreign Players might get injured, out of form , not suitable for their formation etc.,

    400k USD for 3 players

For a team like ATKMB, Tiri alone is earning more than 200k
But for lesser teams like Hyderabad I don't see the three guys I mentioned in an earlier post having contracts in excess of 150k per player. That leaves good money to sign a higher-value striker.
If on average an Indian is making 50L that means 10c for 20 Indians in the squad for top-end teams.
For lower-end teams, this amount goes further down which leaves them with more money for foreign players.

I would rather have Indian players as subs because the only way they get better is by playing.
4 in the squad will get you better quality than 6 in the squad + boost game time for Indian players.
    win-win for all.

I wonder how Mumbai will go about it.
They are the ones capable of signing a young Marquee striker on a million-dollar contract  ;) for ACL
Is Adrian Lopez a marquee-level signing?
and if they win ACL, 4 million dollar prize money will justify such signing  ;)

I want Mumbai City to sign a top Asian striker. Somone from Iran or Japan.

Let's first win AFC Cup. We can think about Champions league later. AFC cup winners can bag $1.5 million + travel subsidy of $40K for every away match.

Even if we sign a Marquee player (Premier league quality striker) , we don't have chance to win Champions League unless Indian players improve. And again as I said, due to salary cap, clubs cannot pay hefty salary for 1 player. I don't know ,if we still have marquee rule or not. One of our friends ,can confirm if we have option for marquee player or not?

1 quality player may win us 1 or 2 matches. But not tournaments. For any success in Champions League, we would need at-least 5 quality players on the pitch. ( GK, 2 Defenders(mainly CB), 2 Mid-fielders ,1 Striker)

This year is a golden chance for ATKMB to win AFC cup
Anything less and I would consider it a disaster.

    2 Oman clubs have withdrawn

    I hope it doesn't get canceled  :/

Hope you are under-estimating following teams. These teams are good and can defeat any team on their day.
Nasaf (Uzebk),  Altyn Asyr,  Al-Kuwait (if qualifies from play off round), Al Ahed FC,
    Al-Muharraq SC, Tishreen SC (Syria) , Al-Faisaly SC & Al-Wahda

Among these teams, Nasaf  & Al-Kuwait will be tough for us to beat.

My assessment was based on Bengaluru FC's run to the final  ;)

This ATKMB team is far better than that squad but do agree I have no clue about the level of other teams but going by what I have heard, top teams over the years in AFC cup are playing ACL this year.
    So fingers crossed  :)
