This squad just found a partner in Sana for Sandesh but then Sandesh left for Europe so he has to play Bheke because his other option Adil has disappointed him big time against Tajiks, Korea,Bdesh etc. I just dont know how will Stimac have a final settled playing 11 until some players step up and make their positions untouchable. We want Glan, Brandon, Apuia, Thapa, Borges, Sahal all in the playing 11 but not everyone can play obviously and none of them has looked capable of scoring. Brandon forgot he used to score from free kicks earlier, Sahal forgot that he ever scored, Glan has decided to play defensive..so where is the attacking play going to come from? No wonder in the IFA friendly it was Akash Mishra who scored a striker's goal because others have just forgotten that they are also allowed to score. Maybe Constantine will come and score for us again lol
I feel it's not about players unable to play but the mentality. In the past 2 years the players have not performed well and there had been too many chopping and changing of players. This has made them wary of committing mistakes. This is where the coach comes in and gives them the confidence but with Stimac this is not happening. That's why he must go. He cannot be a friend to the players he has to be the boss. He is trying to be in the good books of the senior players as well as AIFF thereby prolonging his stint. This is where SC was doing well. Also a set of 40 players cannot make a national team rooster. We have to have bigger pool and for that we need more teams in our leagues as well as a longer league. This we all know. Until then we will see some flash in the pan but mostly disappointment.

Consti had his faults, no doubt on that. He favoured a few selected players and prefered a single style of counter attacking wing play. No variations in tactics. Having said that, Consti did make the NT better in his 4 yr tenure. He rebuilt the team from scratch, introduced new players like Jhingan, Anirudh Thapa, GSS, Haldar, Lenny Rodriguez, Udanta, Kotal, Subhashish bose, Narzary, Changte etc. Are they not established and worthy of NT? Even Kotal plays much better than Rahul Bheke as RB when everyone was after Consti for not including him. Comsti looked for certain attributes to fit his tactics and hence zeroed of those players who fit the bill. Most importantly, unlike Stimac, Consti is not attempting to make Indians play a style of football they are uncomfortable with - possession based, one touch tiki taka system. And this is bcoz the current NT players are not technically attuned to play such a system. They lack a good first touch, vision, composure on the ball etc. Consti worked with a counter attacking style which was more familiar with the players and suited their attributes. Not every team can play like Barcelona or Spain! We have to play to our strengths which includes good defense, pacy wingers, tricky forwards and good defensive midfielders. And the counter attacking system of Consti was also based in passing football and not long balls. And more importantly, the system worked for India!
If you compare the results and performance of NT in 2018 till Asian Cup vs. the performance under stimac, you will notice 2 things - 1) Earlier we were a very hard working, physicall fit team which was extremely difficult to break down in defense. The team conserved their energy for last 15 odd minutes when they used to attack the other team which was more tired due to constant attacking play for 75 minutes. Which is why in a lot of match India scored crucial late goals to win or draw the matches. But now even teams like Nepal or Bangladesh are scoring early and opening up our defense quite easily. 2) earlier we had lesser possession but more scoring chances but under stimac our possession stats have improved but we hardly create anything! Without Chettri the team looks clueless without any avenue of attack. Manvir, Pandita are shit. Earlier we had Jeje to support Chettri. Stimac has failed miserably in his selection as well as strategy. A desperate, lucky draw against Qatar cannot be the sole benchmark of Stimac's tenure. You HAVE to look at his other matches against kyrgyztan, bangladesh, afghanistan, bepal etc which we lost or struggled to draw. We never dominated any of our matches against a weaker opponent unlike under Constantine when we were easily head and shoulders above the SAFF teams. I am not saying bring Consti back. But we need to fire Stimac and get a coach who can accurately assess tge strengths and weaknesses of Indian players and devise tactics accordingly. Remember, Stoke City cannot overnight become the next Barcelona!
