Because of our poor ranking before SC came, we had to play extra games for World Cup (1st Round) and Playoff for 3rd Round of AFC Asian Cup. India collected many FIFA points for these games. This time we did not play those games.
Our priority should be building a Permanent Training Base for Football where Senior Team and various Age Group teams can live and train from time to time. Something like SAI center but exclusively for Football. Sharing of Resources will become easier and Junior teams will get facilities at par with Senior. Training of coaches, Technical Director could be based there.
People think SC did some wonders by taking our ranking to top 100 but that ranking is an illusion after beating Guam, Macau, Taipei, Nepal etc. We sit just right above the SAFF group because of our exposure and experience
Its not about SC getting India a better Fifa ranking during his tenure. That huy actually rebuilt the entire NT from scratch and we were starting to play really well and winning against weaker opponents. We had risen above the level of SAFF yeams and even others an d were actually challenging the likes of china, jordan, uae etc. We were competitive! You can hate the man but hos results are there for everyone to see! Stimac on the other hand has led India into 16 games while winning only 2 of them! And now we are trying to justify a draw against Nepal! From drawing against Chiba and fighting Jordan, how far have we fallen to now try and be happy about a draw with Nepal and taking heart from our "improved 2nd half performance!"
No actually we are exactly where we were. We ran Oman,Qatar closer this time..drew with Qatar, beat Thailand. All this while we introduced the top performers from ISL and tried every possible combination which SC was scared of. He used the same squad for several years like Houghton did and the team knew it's role well by the end. If we do worse in SAFF with an U-23 team like we lost with SC then we can say that we have regressed. Sunil had an inform partner then in Jeje who could score and hence we won more. As much as I disliked Jeje for his fat ass, he would still score from a header, a tap in or some fluke shot. Manvir has scored only once. Stimac rewarded Pandita but he turned out to be useless so he has turned to Farukh and Rahim Ali now. Now Sunil is alone and has scored fewer because of his age and the results are there to see. If you watch the game from Nepal's perspective you will understand how lightly India took this game and how lucky Nepal got.
