The guys in that academy and their national team have been getting the best youth training for almost a decade while are guys have been training for a couple years.
I will hold my response till I see these boys in AFC. I hope they improve tactically more than anything. They are 15, atleast officially, so their window of technical improvements is almost over. Also hope they become a bit more stronger physically. #backtheblues
I don't understand what are some people's expectations here regarding the U17 World Cup. Are you expecting us to compete against the likes of Germany who have an excellent youth setup right from the U7-U8 age groups and world class coaching and facilities? Truth is we can't even compete with a lot of Asian sides yet who are a lot more ahead than the AIFF in terms of grassroots, youth league organization, infrastructure, foreign exposure trips etc. We're not going to suddenly be able to compete with that by bringing together a bunch of players in the past 2-3 years and sending them abroad. It takes years of development. The positive from this is that we're at least getting those foreign exposure trips now. They'll develop more than any U17 team in the past, but still not good enough for the elite level.
As reports are to be believed we do have few. But, hopefully it wont be that much issue as age testing have an degree of tolerance of 1-2 years. I hope players outside that bracket of 17+2 years are very less in Indian team.
@Ashless, if that is true it is not good at all. what are we trying to do here. Only chance of developing some players we have and we again take the short cut..
Exactly my fears. Instead of developing a sustained U15 U17 and U19 domestic league first we straightaway went for hosting AFC and World Cups. A disaster in these tournaments and that too at home will just push back football development. The ISL way of shortcut gimmickbaazi and tamasha didn't help anyone improve their footbakk

If we get killed by Germany, that is expected.

Love this quote cause it probably tells us what will happen come the U17 World Cup and how sides like Nigeria dominate at this level.
Our focus when it comes to this teams should be the individuals and how they play as part of the team, not the entire team itself.
