Bureaucratic hurdles further delayed India’s chances of hosting the 2017 under-17 World Cup after the union cabinet failed to take a decision on the matter earlier this week.
AIFF needs Rs.120 crore from the centre to build infrastructure and also its guarantees on several counts, including employment visas and tax exemptions for
foreign entities.
The World Cup plan involves upgrading six stadiums - Jawaharlal Nehru of Delhi (Rs.5 crore), Salt Lake in Kolkata ( Rs.15 crore), Cooperage in Mumbai ( Rs.25 crore), Balewadi complex in Pune ( Rs.10 crore) BFA of Bangalore ( Rs.35 crore) and one stadium in Goa, Assam or Kerala.
