  • God knows why this socialism in case of football ? Why not in cricket ? Man, this is nuts. If the entire east and north east can be so discriminated against when it comes to selection policy in cricket, why can't the same happen in football ? Is it the same anti east policy ? I am sorry but from day one, I have been observing a lot of anti east, specifically anti Bengal sentiment in this forum. If a Bengali replaces an ex Sri Lankan national player as a coach of a Kerala team, there is so much anti Bengali talk, man this is very very racist. Don't tell me N Srinivasan hires Bengalis to coach or play for Chennai Super Kings ? So if a Bengali owner hires a Bengali coach, what's the big deal about it ? and it's not that Biswajit Bhattacharya is any worse than Packeer Ali, if not better. i always believed that some of the ex-players in Calcutta were far better coaches than him and he was a wrong choice in the first place, in fact it was the magnanimity of the Bengali owner that he persisted with non Bengali coaches for so long, who seriously have been failing to deliver tangible results. i am being led to believe that this forum has been created to stoke anti Bengali and anti Calcutta football sentiments and unite the fragmented rest to indulge in all kinds of anti Bengal and anti Calcutta rant.

Well, I agree with you wholeheartedly. This is the reason why I have stopped participating in most facebook discussion groups. Here again just the the discussions, every thing which has bengal it is heavily criticized -
    1) Why do the bengal (and Goa) teams doing well in 2nd div.
    2) Why Prayag can't shift outside bengal
    3) Why Chirag Kerala has Bengali coach
    4) Why we have PLS
    5) Why YBK had less crowd in Indian match
    blah blah blah....

NO WONDER BENGAL FANS STAY AWAY FROM THESE DISCUSSIONS HERE, WHOSE NUMBERS ANYWAYS ARE MUCH MORE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE

are you guys seriously forgotten the goan city outfits vasco???they could definitely be the dark horse here to overcome the favourites usfc, mohd, sporting and rwfc

and @projenator: here no one is against the kolkatta/goan football but are all interested in having a league which is having representation from as many states as possible ...if you see many of us want MB and EB to grow further and get to reach the way all historic clubs in dif countries and had achieved....as they were not doing much to work on that we were just upset thats it
p.s we cant do anything with team selection though

all i want is a pan indian league, realistically how many clubs can single city support,i want the league to have all india feel
  • Rudra and others,
Stopping won't help, just trust me. I have lived/travelled all over India and abroad for long and I know folks from each of the states as well as the back of my hand, have been seeing and handling this kind of shit for more than a couple decades since my early teens. First and foremost, I think Bengalis, more so the educated suave ones are way way too secular in their mindset and overtly so, very very disunited and somewhat utopic less realistic in their ideology. The lower middle class, middle class Bengalis are better equipped to handle this kind of paranoid jingoism you see in most Indian states, more so the south Indian ones. The good news is that the lower middle class, middle class Bengalis constitute the bulk of soccer fans in Bengal but they need to be made aware of all this shit going on behind their backs since most of them can care less about this forum. You know what I mean, Sabuj Maroon Swapno, the fan's club of MB which does all the marketing, calendars, memorabilia etc. EB the Real Power. I have already raised the entire Odafa blaming episode which was going on here as a part of Chetri's behind the scenes marketing tactic. Some moron posted the Goal.com story on SMS facebook page and a couple of us took care of him. While millions of people are pissed with folks like Sunil chetri, Nirmal chetri, Anwar Ali for their woeful unprofessional performance this season , which has been seriously put under the scanner in Cal given Chetri's and Baichung's bitter criticism of Calcutta football for lack of professionalism, efforts undertaken by a select few on this forum towards building public opinion in favor of Chetri and blaming Odafa has raised quite a few eyebrows. Since players and the team management of these big clubs along with the local media in Cal follow the facebook groups, I am pretty sure some serious hard ball negotiation will ensue when both Chetri's and Anwar's contract come up for discussion towards the end of the season. So much so that it does not look like a personal vendetta, I have built a player performance database and an intelligence application for slicing and dicing the data to build a case against Chetri and Anwar as to how pathetic their performance was over the season. Anwar, although made himself available in most games fared very poorly on technique. Chetri was so rarely available to play for the club and apart from the goals against Mumbai FC and Churchill(first leg)as well as winning the controversial penalty in the first leg derby, there ain't any data to feed into the database since he was a no show in Calcutta league, performance in the Fed cup was shockingly pathetic. I am putting in my bit towards building public opinion in Cal against all this mal-propaganda and it has to start with the Chetris and Baichung since they are the ones who started it all along with Bob Houghton.
  • Why CAN'T CRICKET, the most popular sport in the country have representation from all states in the national team ? Why are the eastern and north eastern parts given the short shrift when it comes to selection matters. We all know how Ganguly was pushed out, so please don't lecture about this "all India feel" shit, this is not just how India works in all matters be it politics, sports and what have you.

I am sorry but since I don't want the I league to become a Ranji trophy in terms of popularity or following or grooming young talent so much so that they remain only tigers in their own soil, in fact no one with an iota of sanity would, it doesn't quite fit my understanding and expression of EQUIVALENCE, which is pretty different from what i see in the post above. Already referees from states like Tamil Nad, Gujarat with ZERO FOOTBALL CULTURE are a enough cause of concern when it comes to running the game in a fair manner.
