The time might not be the one the millions of East Bengal fans expected, the time might not be to celebrate the Bengali New Year, but the custom will prevail as Kingfisher East Bengal is all set to announce their new captain for the next season tomorrow in the historic “Barpujo” festival. It will be India’s formidable central defender Arnab Mondal, who will be the captain for East Bengal in the next season.
The experienced defender is very much upset by the performance of the club this season and tormented by the I-League trophy drought for the last 14 years. Arnab told, “I want the I-League trophy at any cost in the next season in my leadership. We haven’t got that in the last 14 years and I’ll be hoping that the trophy will come in my leadership.” He added, “For me, leadership is not like bossing everyone, in my leadership, every player will be the captain.”
Meanwhile, East Bengal Secretary Kalyan Majumder said the mass protest at the club in the morning was very sad on the club’s perspective.
The slogans continued even after the practice session, as long time members of the squad including the likes of Gurwinder Singh tried to cool down the raging fans. It, however, yielded no result as roads were blocked which meant Trevor Morgan had no way but to shove his way through. Once he made his way to the cab, supporters sat on the road to block its way while some of them allegedly spat on the car. Robin's Singh's car was also damaged as the supporters demanded a public apology from Rehenesh, who was inside the vehicle.
What the hell is wrong with these people ? Yeah i can understand passion but this is hooliganism . How do you expect your players and coach to perform under this kinda pressure ?
They should focus on strong showing in remaining matches and to win Federation Cup. Captain role is very limited in winning any trophy. What about Coach, Manager ???
