@sam Outside India, the words Radical and Hooligans may have negative connotations but in India, Football fans can use such words without negativity. By contrast, the word "Romeo" is very negative in India. Police beats you up in the name of Operation Romeo while outside India Romeo was just one tragic character-not negative at all.
Four-member committee to oversee East Bengal election
Kolkata: Kingfisher East Bengal to have their general elections this year to decide the fate of the officials who are ruling the club right now. The club has formed a four-member election committee today to execute the election procedure properly. No doubt, the election will be a massive test for the likes of Debabrata Sarkar and Kalyan Majumder, as the team has been in dearth of a national level trophy for the last five years.
The four-member election committee will be comprising of Dr Pranab Dasgupta, Debabrata Mukherjee, Deepak Dey and Debapriyo Majumder, with Dr Dasgupta to be the Chairman of the committee.
On the other hand, East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar has confirmed once again that the meeting on the 22nd with the AIFF officials might decide their chances to participate in the Indian Super League.
The East Bengal official said, “We have collected the (Invitation to Bid) documents in Mumbai. But this doesn’t guarantee our participation. We cannot take a plunge in the sea without assessing what’s on offer. We will study it and then details will follow. We will meet Mr Kushal Das of AIFF on Monday to know if they can come up with any solutions”.
Nothing will change. As reported in Bartaman yesterday, the opposition is in disarray...What they have planned to do is that when the new election board is constituted, they would file a public interest litigation bill in the High Court citing the Lodha Commission verdict. They would question why the same persons have been holding the secretary, assistant secretary and football secretary's post for the last 15 years. The new committee wants to bring in three new faces for those posts to counter the opposition's challenge. Cosmetic changes all. Four Vice-Presidents would be nominated in the new committee. They would give huge donations. And the merry-go-round of corruption and unprofessionalism would continue at the club.
Alvito and Sashthi Duley in Kerala to scout new talents for East Bengal
Kolkata: In search of new players to bolster their squad for the upcoming tournaments like CFL, former East Bengal players Alvito D’Cunha and Sashthi Duley have gone to Kerala.
The duo are there to scout few of the local lads and it is learnt that they are highly impressed with a 24 years old versatile young lad named Joby Justin who can play in three different positions.
The 24 years old from Trivandram is highly skillful and fast and can play as a forward, as a right full-back and as a right winger. Though Alvito and Sashthi went to Kerala to see a young midfielder named Biju alias Tuttu from SBI but his “off the ball” skills failed to impress the East Bengal representatives.
While scouting players, the duo also met former Indian football star I.M.Vijayan.
“There are many talented young football players in Kerala but they cannot establish themselves properly. We would love to provide an opportunity and open door for them” said Alvito D’Cunha over the telephone.
It is also reported that Alvito was scheduled to go to Ghana with Manaranjan Bhattacharya for scouting foreigners. But it is highly uncertain when the Kolkata giant would send them as official work is still pending as well as visa work is pending for Bhattacharya.
Alvito’s visit to Ghana is also uncertain as he would be busy attending the C-Grade license coaching classes from10th of June.
