Before meeting the AIFF President Praful Patel and Kushal Das, the East Bengal executive committee members discussed among themselves about the team’s fate in the upcoming ISL merger. The East Bengal committee decided that they are unwilling to pay the Rs.15CR franchisee fee for the participation. As per the rules of ISL of one city representing one team, they are willing to register East Bengal for either Siliguri or from Kalyani. However, they would like their venue to be Yuva Bharati Krirangan or Rabindra Sarobar Stadium.
They have also stated for example that both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal have played in Siliguri as their home grounds.
Selection of the foreigners has also been the topic of discussion. In ISL a 6 foreigners are to be played, so the selection of rest of the foreigners would be done by their quality.
“If Aizawl FC can become champions by being a low budget team then why can’t we” said Asst Secretary Dr. Shanti Ranjan Dasgupta. He also added that Aizawl FC are strong contenders to play the ISL.
It has been decided that a three member representative committee representing Red and Gold brigade would comprise of Dr. Shanti Ranjan Dasgupta, Pranab Dasgupta and Debabrata Sarkar.
They would first speak with Kushal Das and then later approach Praful Patel on 6th May in Mumbai. Apart from these, the advisory committee discussed about the upcoming Fed Cup.
East Bengal finally seems to have woken up to the reality of the benefits of 'desi' remedies after doing away with their British coach and one of their foreign recruits...the above report from the Bengali daily, Ganashakti, states that East Bengal is taking recourse to yogurt and coconut water to beat their main opponent in the Federation Cup--The sweltering heat in Cuttack...the hotel authorities have been instructed to avoid serving spicy food...yogurt is to be provided during meals...coconut water is to be served to the players at regular intervals
Playing at 4-00 pm & even at 7-00 pm in this heat & humidity will cause severe dehydration & fatigue. AIFF is unmindful as usual. They organize a circus from Oct to Dec when the weather in almost everywhere is pleasant, but when it comes to I-League & Federation Cup weather factor is conveniently ignored. Hope none of the players of the 8 participating teams gets affected, though I am very concerned about playing every alternate day. God save the players.
in both time lots of students will be free. So a good market is available for business
stephen Constantine blasted isl for same reason (schedule based on star sports availability) in his first year. Which did not go well with Pappu and Nita. In following year he supported them
To show solidarity to the players PP, KD & SD should sit in the uncovered open stands during every match of the Federation Cup, if they faint then they can be stretchered off to the tunnel to look after themselves......real crooked officials...their only rightful place is behind the bars.
http://www.sportstarlive.com/football/indian-football/mehtab-jr-comes-in-as-east-bengal-reinforcement/article18419864.ece East Bengal need to give some of these guys---members of EB's U-18 team--- like Mehtab Singh, Telem Suranjit Singh, Yami Longvah, Bidyashagar Singh a chance to play in the senior team next season. They are very talented and even TJM was very impressed by their performance...They played very well in the 2016-17 U18 I League and even in the Bordoloi Cup last year...At least, they have shown that they have that fire in the belly which their seniors have been desperately lacking
