The first AIFF Regional Academy in collaboration with FIFA kicked-off at the Father Agnel School premises in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday (May 1). Twenty U-15 boys including two goalkeepers will be a part of the Residential Academy at the School premises.</span><br style="text-align: justify; "><br style="text-align: justify; "><span style="text-align: justify; ">Scott O’Donell, Technical Director, AIFF Regional and Elite Academies conducted the first training session which was more of “fun than intensive training.”</span><br style="text-align: justify; "><br style="text-align: justify; "><span style="text-align: justify; ">“It’s imperative that the boys settle down. Hence, we will stress on fun sessions for the first few days. Form thereon, we move into intense training,” Scott, stressed.</span><br style="text-align: justify; "><br style="text-align: justify; "><span style="text-align: justify; ">Colm Toal, Head Coach Youth Development and National Team Coach Savio Medeira were also part of the first training session.</span><br style="text-align: justify; "><br style="text-align: justify; "><span style="text-align: justify; ">“The Academies would provide the National Coach more options when he sits down to choose the Indian squad in the future,” Toal maintained.</span><br style="text-align: justify; "><br style="text-align: justify; "><span style="text-align: justify; ">“This was long due,” Savio commented. “All India Football Federation’s effort is laudable indeed.”</span><br style="text-align: justify; "><br style="text-align: justify; "><span style="text-align: justify; ">AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das said: “The future of Indian football lies in the youth.     <br><div><br></div><div>Its first batch..taking many may hamper the quality training....In India we always look for quantity, but at the moment they are building infrastructure, whatever number they feel good should be taken...</div>

    hmm..probably u r correct. but still expect a bit more may be 25. also expect AIFF to extend the technical know how gained in these academies to I league clubs and existing academies. That would mean better players coming up from across all the academies

    plus if you remeber the age scandal for the fifa aiff academy..... these must be the players who passed in both trails and age examination

    <br><br>out of context...but in there earlier years the best research institutes in India takes less that 10 people...with time they took 10-15, then 20+<br>Thats how quality development will take place<br>

    <font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">20 is a decent number for a new academy with all facilities mostly untested....</font><div><font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">And more important is we have one academy opened to assure us the dedication of federation..</font></div><div><font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">waiting for all other regional academies to start the show soon...</font></div><div><font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2"><br></font></div><div><font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">i see qatar calling india for another big competition,now it is world cup 2022  </font>:)]</div>
