Good idea. Play the U23s in the SAFF and then have the Seniors in the AFF Cup.

No need to move out of SAFF.Just invite Central Asians.Uzbekistan may not send Europe based players but their B team made up of domestic players will provide good competition and exposure to us.Also Turkmenistan and Tajikistan are good as us and Krygzistan is of same level of Maldives which is 2nd best in SAFF.

Also Central Asians dont have any federation or competition so there is good chance of them joing to form South And Central Aisan Football Federation.

Format(All the tourney including U-16 a new U-19 and Sr NT of men and women) -

    Group A - 4 teams
    Group B - 4 teams
    Group C - 4 teams

Semi Final - top 3 and best 2 placed team.

But Uzbekistan would not send domestic as well. They dont have to and there coach has bigger plans and also practically all there players are domestic based and not Euro based. Uzbekistan would be the first to announce there U21 in the Senior cup. Tajikistan is fine but I still feel we are ahead of Turkmenistan and that we would beat them 6-7 out of 10 times. It just would not pan out the way everyone wants it to.

What uzbeks will send depends on the deal with SAFF/AIFF etc.

  • How? We cant have a SAFF/CAFF Championship without Uzbekistan and there is nothing stopping Uzbekistan from sending a U21 squad. These matches are counted as friendlies anyway.

If this was the AFC Asian Cup or something major like that then there would be a problem but not for a small regional cup.

If the tournament is played in June/July thrre is every chance of them sending
    senior team

You want India to play in ASEAN but sorry that will never happen

  • I already understand that, you guys have already put convincing evidence of that but I am still wondering how a merger of SAFF and CAFF will work. Yes the tournament format will be easy but will Uzbekistan send there real team (they are rising fast, 2-2 to South Korea, and wont risk there players midway through the season in some random tournament. Turkmenistan is no longer as threatening as they were before and Kaz is not looking to improve anytime soon. The only positive would be Tajikistan who could realistically provide a competition for India.

Turkmenistan is good dont say we are way better than them, all these teams provide good competition.Uzbekistan is strong no doubt but what makes you think theyll send an U -21 and even if they send whats the issue ?? They are better than Nepal or Bhutan.

We are not miles ahead of Turk but I just dont see the competition with them anymore. Tajikistan at least provide a great a battle no matter the score. The problem with Uzbekistan is what is the point of playing against there youth side. We already seen the affects of the Cameroon matches in which we won yet we got nothing in return, and that was only a "B" side.

Also again, think about it. Uzbekistan are probably in the top 5 of Asia right now. They are on a rise and they deserve to be ranked higher than they are right now. Do you think they would want to play against India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Turk, Tajik and Kaz. I dont think so.
