According to news from Tajik Federation. If all 46 nations from AFC make an entry then there could be groups of 6 teams each and one with 5 playing in Home and Away basis.
India will get to play against some quality opposition in the first round and possibly few average Asian teams like Syria,Thailand, Bahrain etc in Asian Cup qualifiers.
About India's chances on qualifying for Asian Cup. I doubt India can make it even with increase in teams, we still have a lot of work to do and recent result against Bangladesh speaks that. But we ''ll see a lot of action throughout the year which I'm excited about.
Also team hosting Asia Cup would have to spend almost double but AFC will not miss on viewership and sponsors due to some South East Asian teams qualifying.
