I don't see anything stupid about it...just go and check out the Japanese NT in early years of J league...there were guys like Ramos from brazil who would have been very hard pressed to prove a Japanese lineage
India would never allow PIO. It is much more complex than it seems which effects sports apart from football too. Our policies states that only Indian Citizen can represent India in sports with respect to the nation. Thus allowing PIOs will have a much wider effect in other sports too than football. So there is no point in being stupid and bringing up the issue time and again when the stance of the government is the same.
Yes there has been some talented indian origin players who used to play for india in few sports like tennis, swimming where we lack pool for international level.. but on the positive side without the likes of amritraj the local lads like yuki sanam were looked else they would have been waiting till 27 or something to get a look at davis cup.. and also today we have a better pool of talents than what was decade ago expecially in singles
@deepakc Vijay and Anand (Cant say about Hollywood Producer Ashok) still do not have US Citizenship. They are living in USA for last 40 years on Green card. I guess that serves their Business interests both in India, Sri Lanka and USA in a much better way. Their sons were not that lucky as they were born in USA and automatically US citizens.
I agree about some doubt on Vasudevan's citizenship as he played for India in 1980s I think. But I am not sure that Prakash Amritraj and his brother played for India with US Passport??? Then thats wrong.
