problem is our government policy. which will never change only to accommodate PIO footballers in our team. Even I am a supporter of dual citizenship with few selected countries. But with all probability that is not going to happen anytime soon. Government has to change law, amend constitution to do these.
@sam The problem is PIOs themselves. Arata Izumi was also PIO. Look how he rebuked his Japan Passport. Nobody is stoping PIOs to cancel their Foreign Passport and become Indian citizen. If they dont want to do that, what can we do?
Yes they need to live. Look what Arata Izumi also did. He was playing as a Foreign player for 5 years. Now once he became India citizen, he became Domestic player as well as played for National Team.
@Shah476 ; All those British born Pakistani National Team players carry two Passports or they are allowed to play for Pakistan just be having Non Resident Pakistani or Pakistani Origin ID? They allow dual citizenship? I saw brother of boxer aamir khan playing for Pakistan Team in Commonwealth games. Surely he is British citizen.
Yeh Britain allows dual nationality..and Pakistan has agreement with then. Same with Denmark and their dual nationality law. However some countries don't allow it..or either allow it in certain circumstance and we don't have agreement with them. Ideally I'd want this card thing alone but our gov requires athletes having passport of Pak to represent.
