Bob was a failure orsuccesses that future will decide. I will remember him for taking India to AsiaCup after 27 long years and he clearly had a vision. As we are experiencing themost volatile and confusing state of Indian football ever, we need to focus ontwo things immediately to back on track -
1. It is the time toaccept that present batch of footballers will not be able to play passingfootball. They can pass but it is too slow for International standard. So forimmediate successes or some decent result we need "kick run andchase" football once again.
2. Parallel we have togive our young people a chance to play passing football and improvetheir first touch, vision and speed that in future we can get rid of Britishstyle football.
For the first case BobHoughton is the best option. Bring him back with a short term contract, say 2years. He knows everyone. He can influence AIFF people and make them do what hewants. We desperately need some good result in International football rightnow.
For the second caseappoint Westwood for a long term, say for 5 years. Let him take care of newgeneration. Participate in more competitive tournaments like Tiger cup instead of Nehru Cup or bring some strong team in Nehru Cup.
We need to select one of them.
