"Even more payment will not improve refereeing standards. We should not think money is a magic wand. Our national team players get paid huge amounts but can't beat Bangladesh in Kolkata. We should have lost that match 1-3. Indian football is stagnant, in a deep rut and until drastic changes will just be more hype than substance"
Bang on Mr Novy, players are being paid hefty for sub standard football (including both ISL and ILeague)..why not start playing abroad, starting U17..come back for age group Trials..at least u start playing fit fitter and more agile football players..than oldies.. who knows if everything goes well and India has players - playing in not Top but in 2nd division leagues across Europe - making up its 11, we will start beating Middle Eastern teams regularly and may be even Japan/Korea/Iran
Top goal scorers in 2019 (only national level tourneys, which are under the AIFF/FSDL calender, are being taken into account i.e I League,ISL,Super Cup and Durand Cup)
1) Marcus Josheph ( 19 goals)
2) Ferran Corominas (17goals)
If we also consider the sheikh jamal cup (AFC Tier II tournament) , Marcus has 20 goals to his credit this year
