Problem with Pune: Football is as it is a minor game in India in terms of following Indian Football. Coupled with high ticket rates and stadium far away from the city, general public thinks its not worth spending so much to watch a football match that too outside the main city.
Pune is an IT city and so prices may still not be a problem. 300 for a good game of evening relaxation is what people can spend on. Problem is location. If stadium would have been in city, people would have flocked to the grounds to spend some good time. And then have nice dinner at some good restaurant with beer and all. Would have worked.
Banglore/ Bengaluru was always know to be a place with football fans.. HAL technically attracted half the actualy attendance of Pune fc which is excluding the free tickets for kids...
The locality had played a major role in results of Bengalure becoming a success at the end
Don't think it makes it official. Just the media guy saying that is might happen. I guess you can say we know now that there will be a merger soon but I don't believe in 3 years... but, a lot has happened since 2012.
Finally some positive steps from SAI and AIFF ...a recent meeting to float the idea of a All-India SAI team taking part in the 2nd Division of the I-League !
