All 3 genuine and very fair demands..but madam won't agree and PP will loose pocket money from the "bidding" ..which is what dad baby seems to be saying through euphemism's
What was the point of this meeting if IMGR were not ready to offer any solutions?
None of these demands will be met by AIFF. Also MB,EB and BFC are not openly against AIFF. Among the other clubs Aizawl and Lajong are happy with League One. Mumbai FC doesn't care and DSK is AIFF's pet.
Also I believe SFC and SCG should have negotiated with AIFF so that League One is given enough importance as they said would be. They have a good youth system and should invest more in it. Selling young players is also viable. They don't gain anything by spending huge amounts in ISL, because they don't have any fans. Suddenly their ambition of playing in Asia is laughable, when all these years they made no effort to do so or build a fanbase and create a professional system.
Sadly Salgaocar and Sporting failed to upgrade themselves to the times which a new club like BFC could do playing in the same league. And definitely they are no comparison with MB and EB. For all its history of 60 years Salgaocar has essentially been a office team for the first 40 years. With FC Goa now, there is no chance ever of them having any fans. Passing the blame is easy, owning up is tough. League One was a great opportunity and they let it go. If they think they have any bargaining power like the Kolkata clubs they are vastly wrong.
All three points are pertinent to all I-league clubs. Kolkata clubs won't be able to pay the fees (technically they can; if they take a partner aboard; which they can if they are ready to cede part ownership to the partner; which they aren't ready to give).
Forget the two clubs, I think the three demands are the basic starting points of any expansion/ change/ modification plan for I-league.
It doesnt matter how AIFF will respond to this, but IMG-R is not stupid. IMG-R will simply tell them(goan clubs) to buzz off...entertaining two Goan teams without any franchisee fees will lead to a turmoil amongst the existing ISL franchisees. The 8 franchisees themselves will raise objection against IMG-R ....IMG-R being a business minded organization will obviously choose the side of ISL franchisees regarding this. There are more corporate teams who will be lining up to either play in ISL or league one. Its only the two goa teams who are against this. The other 7 teams are least bothered.
Upon reading the interview of the COO of BFC one could conclude a sort of agreement have been established (or in the process of establishing) between BFC and ISL. If BFC is given a slot in the ISL then it is a foregone conclusion that the clubs from Kolkotta are there as well. So however valid may be the stand of salgoa and SCdG are i don't see img-rel conceding to it. They are alone in this endeavor. Its harsh but that is the fact.
Personally I think Salgaocar and SCG stand no chance in this case and are wasting their time. They just need to shut down their clubs in totality (All operations) and avoid incurring any further loses. The GPL in itself is a white elephant and should also be shut down.
As it is in the current form no business men with commercial motive will be willing to invest as the operating cost is absurdly high. This jeopardizes equity inflow. To be frank a long duration proper league will be able to get buyers as liquidity can be maintained by reducing the operating cost.
ISL started off with 30 franchisee bidders in 2014. So, yes people are interested in investing in ISL. Not only investors, but even central sponsorships rose by many folds in season 2. Only KBFC and Delhi have had a change in their stakeholders. FC Goa's situation is completely understandable. They dont want to continue cause they lost in a Final and have recieved a legit punishment for their nuisance. Pure sissies !
