    problems and solution for I-Leagues
    0. aiff should cancel its contract with IMG-R
    1. club should do promotion in there targeted fan base (aiff should strictly implement it)
    2. aiff should hair a management agency to do all promotions ( TV,print, media etc)
    3. all clubs should have 1 club icon like (cricket player,Bollywood star etc)
    4. republish all stadiums
    5. make 4+1 AFC foreign rule
    6. 1 marquee signing who must be under 35 and well known
    7. sign a better TV deal and haire a production team
    8. force clubs to have place name in its club name (eg. Vasco Salgoacars) except Historic club have good fan base like MB,EB
    9. maximum 3 clubs for state
    10. force clubs to play at different stadiums eg(dempo in bambolim,Mumbai in cooperage)
    11. to make it pan India pre determine the city's for direct entry (eg Hyderabad ,channia)
    12. share TV rights, sponsor money with clubs that will incarage corporates in join league
    13. play mostly at night or late evening (5 pm,6 pm)
    14. if all this above is apply will surely attract good sponsors
    15. with all above I sure u a full house for every match which will average 20+ k
    16. have good food and drinks (also beer) and good herf time brake entertement
to do all this we should first kick out politicians from aiff and have good people who have degree in sports management.

So many of these comments are so shortsighted, it is not even funny.

The answer the question on the 2-3 months, keep in mind that the Delhi Dynamos owner did come out to say they would like the league to eventually expand, perhaps to 6-8 months. So the owners would be okay with an expansion and why not? If the ISL turns out to be successful with 2-3 months then I-League will probably lose out, ISL will take over and then IMG-Reliance will see this as a chance to gain FIFA and AFC sanctioning which would involve expanding the league because having a guarantee for AFC Champions League and AFC Cup would involve bringing in more fans and eventually more money.

As for why these corporates choose ISL and not I-League when JSW did: I think we can all agree that JSW got lucky with Bangalore. Bangalore was a city with plenty of football potential but it just needed to be unlocked. They had a good stadium already in place, a part of the city which was football crazy, some decent locals... it's no wonder Bengaluru FC were so successful. However, no doubt they lost money in the first year and that is fine but eventually JSW will see that they will never make money and eventually they will pull out because that is the reality of the I-League... it is not so simple to change the rules to help JSW make anything, the rules are there to crush JSW eventually.

That is why corporates are avoiding the I-League, it is a dead product. I still believe in I-League but it would need to be breakaway with only a few clubs joining otherwise it is nothing. The ISL is different in that the corporates can come in and would probably have a better chance at making money eventually.

And finally, the Thai Premier League is a shit league ran under so much corruption. Only 2 teams have any chance of winning it. It is far from the league we should aspire to.

Thai league is still better than I-League and that's the cruel reality.

As for Delhi owner giving hints on 6 month league please we have heard a lot about such aspirations and promises which never happened well let ISL run for 2 months first.

Well arsenalkid weren't you one who said that I-League needs some time to establish and bullshit way back ?

There are a billion leagues better than I-League currently, just because Thailand is one of them does not mean we should aspire to be them.

You are missing the point with what the Delhi owner said. IMG-Reliance will probably want to take as much money as they can out of this and eventually they would probably want FIFA or AFC sanctioning to get into the Asian competitions in order to gain more money and potentially more fans. (Come on, an ISL vs Guangzhou Evergrande game would gain a lot) Of course for that to happen you need to follow the strict AFC rules which would involve increasing the length of the league. It will not remain 2-3 months forever.

The I-League does not need time, it needs to reform into another league with select clubs. Personally that is what I would prefer over an ISL but here we are... with ISL... so lets work with it.

@goalkeeper: All that you are saying has been already discussed. If clubs had the money, they would have done it long tie ago. Top clubs spend 10-15 crores on the shite they produce on the field. ISL clubs are expected to spend 40-50 crores in the first year itself. Clubs in I-League barring a few don't have the capacity to generate revenue and thus spend at the same time.
You cannot sell the league to sponsors and a good telecasting partner. Because, believe me, the average indian has no trust in Indian football. Don't you remember when I-League was launched in 2007. Zee sports did a very decent job. Commercials promoting the league eveyrwhere, banners, advertisements in papers. Did it work?? They backed out from their 10 year contract with AIFF citing that football has no takers in India. Why did JCT and Mahindra shut down?? No takers bro. Even if you market it properly, still situation won't improve much. Indians love glamour. Can the present I-League bring in glamour. Can' they spend too much on the marquee players.( Better and above than what we have). First, of all , they won't come. But, still factually speaking, do we have the capacity.
I want these questions to be answered> Especially by those who are skeptical against ISL.

And obviously IMG-R are gonna increase the length if they merge with I League. But, first they are testing the waters. It is also more of testing year for them. IMG has no experience in owning sports leagues. Its their first. So, you can expect goof ups. And if they find the model financially viable. Who wouldn't want more money to come. Its like killing a golden geese.

ISL are gonna spend so much.... ISL are gonna merge.....ISL gonna reap profits etc All these are "gonnas" nothing in reality. Its really awesome to be optimistic about future nothing wrong seriously ! But being realistic sounds much better for me.

I once again want to ask you guys what makes you think a 2 month league will benefit Indian Football ??? In long term how will it ? So they will increase duration ? there is a huge difference between 2 months duration and 8 month duration(according to AFC standards for ACL) your same ideology applies here your average Indian friends can they sustain same interest for 8 months ?? And well before we talk about interest lets talk about finances :P 40 crores for 2 months right ?? then lets say 80-100 crores for 8 months and who will play ? Marquee player 40 year old Pires ? Well its quite obvious no fool would invest soo much unless there is someone who's sponsoring millions in the league.

So where do we go then ??? All the way back ??
