@Footy Very few clubs in the world actually break even let alone make a profit mate. Football isnt a profitable business, Its the passion and the advertising, CSR that keeps businessmen keep coming to own clubs.
The reason you get poor quality of foreigners in I-league is simple, Its not marketed well as well as the winnings arent huge. I mean you get 35K per match you win unless am outdated in my facts and 5-10K for MOM, Bcos of poor marketing the crowds are not contributing to the gates and if they do come the funds go to the State run sports authorities since clubs dont have money to own there own stadiums. Its the economics that is the downfall of I-league and nothing else. Make it attractive and the corporates will come and with that money.
@footydip Thats a snapshot of AIFF budget. Different grants are there like from FIFA. Its not that AIFF is surviving on Reliance group money laundering and Black Money conversion ISL league for survival.
I-League cannot increase quality ??? WTF ??? This is bullshit bro @footydip. You say Youth Development is important fine but after graduating form that stage where will they go ?? Don't say 2 month ISL bro that's really silly.
What will happen if I-League stopped ??? Players will play for 2 months and then do what ??? Really ashamed to see people talk this way. I-League was not the best but it was savior of Indian football it may have not spent spent 90 lakhs on 35 year old Renedy singh for 2 months but atleast kept the game going maybe AIFF and IMG-RIL could have done something but unfortunately IMG-RIL is here for gains not for development.
@munna219777 : great info mate. but look at this Sale of Broadcasting & Marketing rights 345,000,000 332,500,000. it's the major source which is coming from img-r.
@AshIndia-If at end of the day,our target is to get the game going then i-League is up to its mark.As per I know,nd no one here is suggesting to stop I-League.
who will market i league friend? @DX what will they market? you can sell a bad product for a year with extensive marketing and promotions. but from 2nd year there will be no takers of that shit.
if ileague stops wouldnt imgr expand the ISL schedule and replace ileague? It would no longer be a two month league. All ileague players would sign up for ISL but lets discuss on the present situation.
That sale and broadcasting will come even if IMG-R is kicked out. Calcutta League or Mizoram league all have revenue from marketing and broadcasting. they dont have to ruin there league and start a money laundering ISL to make their broadcasting and marketing partners happy. Here AIFF has become slave to IMG-R.
I-League is actually top 10 most attended league in Asia and actually equal to much professional Thai premier League ? So what's the issue in getting few sponsors by AIFF why aren't they able to market it when their counterparts are able to ??
@nunna218777 Surely then I-League will become at the same level of Calcutta and Mizoram League...LOL...atleast 43% of total football followers in India now follow I League.....then it will become 4%....:P
