Okay, I am not speaking about IMG-Reliance here... in fact, lets pretend right now that the ISL and IMG-Reliance did not exist... the I-League is still a dead product or a product that would take years to get right. Why? Look at the clubs! Look at who run the teams. Look at who ran the league pre-IMG.

Don't be fooled by the Indian Super League that if these people worked in I-League then I-League would be a success... it would not. The corruption and stupidity of the I-League would prevent that. We are a league which currently may have liars in Pune FC and more shady business with other clubs like Shillong Lajong and the Kolkata clubs. Do we really believe that the ISL people becoming involved with I-League would fix all of this? Perhaps it would but where is the incentive? Why the fuck should they do this? For the good of the game? Eh, fuck that. There is no money in I-League, end of story.

That is why the I-League is a dead product or a long, long-term product. ISL may not be an angel in the sky but at least give it a bloody shot instead of bringing it down like we do with everything else in Indian football.

  • That is such an honest opinion @arsenalfan700.

@arsenalfan700 how can you decide ISL clubs owners are good at running the club ??? Did we even finish a season ?? What is the guarantee these guys will remain in Indian football for long term ?

I dont support ISL's concept but that doesn't mean I support the way I-League is run right now, yes its not the best but there's nothing wrong in trying to improve it step by step(now dont fucking say its a dead product).

I would be very happy if ISL becomes 8-9(even 6-7 for starter) month proper league, but lets be realistic here ISL is more about business, they can sustain the hype for 2-3 months, pay the players for 2-3 months but 6 months again its going to be loss for them.

ISL for me is just a waste of time and couple of steps backward especially when countries like Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar etc continue to improve their league.

So appreciate most of my fellow friends who have very high hopes from ISL, I too hope all those things happen but I prefer to be bit more realistic.

  • the Issue is I-league was never ever given a chance to be revamped or even a plan presented to AIFF and the Clubs by IMG Reliance of how it can be a money making league. not even a attempt was made or a draft proposal put out .This is they Key point here which most seem to gloss over.

I-league is just brushed off and actually being subtly killed off by its own supposed benefactor . Full focus , devotion and publicity offered to ISL which makes me ask what if this kind of focus was given to I-league, In that scenario in all probability every body would have been praising the I-league.

Someone on the forum had commented earlier , if it was so dammn easy to improve Football standard in a country , the Gulf countries with all their money and hired brains would have already implemented a ISL type league. UAE, KSA Qatar etc would be world no 1 , 2 3 for decades to come.

I have no issues with ISL, succeeding but i find it stupid when I –league is called Dead product for reasons related to AIFF , its functioning , lack of money and non ability to make it I-league a separate entity. I bet IMG were worried if I-league is made separate and run by the clubs it might actually takeoff and there is no way Reliance can make any money.

    Very well put @ashindia

You are right; as ISL become longer, it will approach I-league, no doubt about it.

That Vietnam, Myanmar are on the right track (concentrating on their main league), is evident from the performance of their NT. India is neglecting their league, so future is clear.

Also, I wonder how easily people presuppose I-league club-owners are corrupt and ISL club-owners are not ... glamour and dazzle blind people ... no doubt it does ..
