ISL and I-League can become one easily, but what about ATK, MB and EB ??? This is very complicated. How many Kolkata fans would want to get rid of EB/MB and support ATK ? How many for end of ATK and continuation for MB/EB ?
what will happen to Pune in merged ISL and I-League? Pune FC, Baba Kalyani new Pune Franchise, FC Pune City FC and Mumbai FC who play in Pune? How many Foreigners will AFC allow in the league?
I don't want them to merge for at least 3 years. Let it survive and breathe for a while. We can think about merging only after that. And anyways, that is unlikely. IMG Reliance is not gonna sell its league to AIFF so easily. And its gonna be a suicide for the clubs because I doubt production quality will be this high. By Production quality I mean, turfs, LED stuff, fireworks and amazing atmosphere.
LET IT LIVE. And from what I have observed around me in this ISL is that, fans are more close, connected and emotional to their cities as compared to so many clubs in their cities. We don't have a footballing culture where we have grown up supporting a neighborhood football club. That simply is not there. But, that is also the case in other non- footballing countries like USA, Australia. City wise competition is the KEY to such territories.
You say. What is better. Kolkata vs Goa or East bengal vs salgaocar?? I think the former is better. Traditional footballing territories have region based fans eg. Chelsea, Flamengo, Dortmund, etc., etc. We lack in that aspect.
National Team is anyways doomed with ISL. Do you think Indian players will have any juice left over in them after playing 40 odd matches by the end of the calender (with I-league and ISL together)??
