@Ronny - I thought and wrote Goa will qualify (When they were loosing). But was not sure about Kerala. Though I am supporting ATK but have to confess that they are the best team so far in terms of eye pleasing football. Really good and I would like to see Zico for a long long time as India coach.
@7Negi Eh, I would rather not give my opinion on which one will be better in the end but lets be realistic. Ronaldo is 29 years old and will be 35 by around 2020... at which point I expect MLS to be near where its goal is and that is to be among the top leagues by 2022 while ISL will only just be starting to take more shape and become a longer league. Ronaldo has also stated that he would like to end his career in the US before, thus why I dont think he would come to India over the US, the ISL will become massive but not in the near future to be able to attract guys like Messi or Ronaldo.
Del Piero, Pires, Ljungberg, Anelka, Trezu, Garcia, James, are all bad examples. They are legends of the game but they all either retired or already had their little adventure outside of Europe before coming to India. It is not as if they made the step from Juventus to India like Del Piero did when he went from Juve to Australia. One day it will happen but not in the near future for guys this big.
People like Cristiano Ronaldo, Beckham, Messi are very big in Endorsements, Wealth management, Philantropy duties besides being in Media all the time. Coming to India is not possible with players of this magnitude. While staying at places like USA, they can still travel around and handle all their non-playing business. Its okay for Pires, Anelka. These types are already retired and they are not getting such huge Media deals-so they can come to experiments like ISL.
Exactly. Plus keep in mind that this is a short-term league, they are okay to spend 2-3 months in India and then go wherever they ned to spread their brand or whatever.
I league + ISL will not work more then 3 season .. they have to merge it as soon as possible .. AIFF already looking every possibility merge both leagues
