Jewish Community of India was much smaller and it comprised mostly of traders. They became prosperous in British Times along with Parsees. Most big cities like Calcutta, Madras, Bombay, Cochin (of those days) have Jewish Synagouges. When Israel was formed, Indian Jews immigrated there and after getting Israeli Passports, they went to USA also. In the early 1990s when India established full Diplomatic Relations with Israel and their Embassy was setup, almost all the Indian Jews went there.
As far as Bollywood is concerned, I can name following artists as Indian Jews
1) David
2) Pearl Padmasee
3) Nadira
If you go back in the period around 1850, David Sassoon was the richest and most powerful Indian Jew. Mumbai/Pune people will remember Sassoon Hospitals in Pune as well as Byculla (adjacent to JJ Hospital), Sassoon Docks, Rani Baugh and the Museum inside, Sasson Library in Fort, Mumbai as well as Synagouges in Mumbai, Pune. Sassoon Family was so influential that one of their sons got married into Rothschild Family in Europe.
Yah ,,,nice gesture from Bahrain PM ,,,, Government should sue the employees who treated him badly in that situation ... This news now spread all over England as well
