I posted a message a long time back, regarding the grassroots development that we should concentrate on. The i-league and AIFF is a complete joke, I must add ISL into it too.

Solution: Restart Indian Football as we are going nowhere, we are back to the same place, again and again for the past several years.

AIFF is the biggest jokers I have heard of. We are just playing like how we are playing for so many years, whereas, other teams have improved immensely.

So easy to say "re-start"... lets hear some suggestions.

I have a book on this.

You possibly think whatever we suggest here will have any impact, or did it even have any? Its easy said than done, its true but do you really want this to continue like this until you die after 60 years, imagining your still a teenager.

That is kind of the point of a forum, to discuss and give your opinion. You don't have to be "I would do this, this, and this" but more "I would like to see more of this or this."

I have a workable solution which I had posted earlier as well, which of course has 0% chance of ever being implemented till IMG is "advising" AIFF.

    1) ISL window should be July-September. Only under 22 Indian players allowed. This will save costs for ISL and actually do some good to the youngsters (how many ISL supporters actually go to watch Balwant singh? answer zero).

    2) Get an ex Jleague organizer to become CEO of ileague (remove the current joker)and give ileague a window of October-April. make sure the ileague clubs start having long term stadium contracts with local governments and invest in training facilities. Give freedom to the ileague clubs to market and monetize their brands. AIFF can take a share of the revenue.

    3) Start zonal leagues from October-April (6 zones for the whole country), so that youngsters get exposed to playing quality home and away matches over the year.

    4) Tie up with Educational Institutes to train local physio's , physical trainers, groundsmen/turf managers, masseurs, rehab specialists, video analysts (courses need not be subsidized, people will pay to train for these short term courses).

I disagree with the ISL window being July-September. Monsoon season and also other things like Pro Kabaddi League and World Hockey League. India cricket as well. It just would never work. Would also make signing foreigners worse. These guys would be coming out of their season (most likely ending in late May/early June) and going straight back into competitive football, that to with 2-3 games a week. And then after the season the transfer window would be closed.

The Under-22 rule is also something that won't work. The quality of play will be hampered and lets be honest, players like Jayesh Rane have their "cult" following. Guys like Sunil Chhetri, Rino Anto, Lyngdoh, and even Jackichand Singh deserve to play in a league which is popular... the U22 rule would prevent that. You also have the possibility of more age fraud etc and no certainty that players would improve.

Meanwhile I doubt Junji Ogura would be willing to come to India. He is over 75 now, finished with football administration.

I agree with the zonal leagues and education institutes. I hope that the ISL can get their shit together, become the top league, and the AIFF can focus on the state federations and zones, as well as football education for coaches, referees, and administrators.

@AKB i knew you would always circle around your fav topic, ISL has ruined Indian football? Wow, Been watching since 96 NFL days and all these years India has gradually dropped how is it that ISL alone ruined Indian football?

I-league is at fault, It hasnt been pan national, Never invested seriously in youth leagues and why blame IMG for it? Why isnt your I-league clubs standing firm? I can go even further that AIFF had to shove the Club licensing else you would still have your churchill's and Air India's.

Am not saying AIFF is not to be blamed, They screwed it up and Non sportsmen & Politicians should not be involved in day to day operations and business decisions of a game they dont understand.

Fact remains, You will only get what you sow, If your national league has pathetic quality and guys like ranti, odafa still rule the scoring charts and john johnson, Bello still are leading CB's then you will get what you see... A sham of a performance.

Dont blame a 3 month tournament (What about the remaining 9 months being done?) with just 1 year under its belt to a long time suffering performance of the NT team. Thats just irrelavant and misinformed.

To ruin a thing you need less time than to build.  That exactly what is happening in Indian Football. I'm not against ISL circus... surely it has got entertaining value. But INDIAN FOOTBALL at the expense of some "Tamasha" manufactured by some business men and officials who are never seen except during ISL is sickening for me. Indian Cricket has IPL but India's International & Domestic commitments have not been compromised. The difference  is there for everybody to see.

You are watching since 1996, FYI I'm watching since much longer time and never mentioned that because it makes no difference when the aim is the same (I think all of us would love to see INDIA perform).  But with the "Tamasha" being given priority by AIFF, INDIA CAN NEVER PERFORM. Simply because we lack in vision, we only want to make fast cash.

Am still waiting for your answer, What has india shown since 96 ever since a professional league has been conceptualized?

Also what has india done for 9 months of the year for you to blame a 3 month tournament?

Pouring money into the league has nothing to do with AIFF, Thats been paid by IMG for 700 crores.. What improvement has AIFF shown via its main league despite having this money? Where has it been accounted for? What infrastructure has AIFF provided for indian football for you to blame "Tamasha" league?
