If simultaneous closure of 3 teams in top division doesn't get AIFF a nonsugarcoated kick in the nuts, I am not sure what will, may be Bhutan beating us 5-0 in SAFF this year. It's time to terminate IMG's contract, disband ISL and get fresh people into the Fed's top levels. Mr.Patel and his colleagues have failed at everything, its time for them to go. AIFF should be going all out to resurrect the I-League right now, make it a separate entity and focus on developing footballing infrastructure and youth systems in major football centres a LA Kolkata, Goa, NE, Kerala, Bangalore, etc.

Your concern is genuine and I'm also getting frustrated by the work culture or Vision of AIFF (though I know that AIFF is just like a blind man who doesn't have vision). Unfortunately we are to live through this utter nonsense and see in a few weeks how the NT gets thrashed by Iran. Then we may have another blue print for year 2200..... So don't worry mate.... gradually our focus will be diverted from sports. Our Hockey was long gone.... Football was never there quite..... Cricket is fast moving towards the grave..... Politics will become the National Sports Officially (Unofficially it is already the National Sports).

Eventuality of corporate teams- Mahindra/JCT/Pune/Bharat and then ? BFC?

have always said, corporate teams in football is always jittery, solely depending on whims of top corporates. Non one going to say anything no matter when and how they fold up or regain consciousness.

Yes agreed AIFF is solely to blame for lack of vision towards I-League

But this is where supporters club gives to more fruitful long term results.

A MB or EB or even MS (long after turned out from I-League), due to supporters will never fold up. This is where lies the difference.

Corporates should be allowed in sponsorships, not direct foray into football. For this matter even ISL is jittery. Unless profit is there, all going to fold up.

We really need to re-think our strategy towards Indian football if we are to sustain longer. Corporates are just short term whimsical. What works in other countries or for any other sport is not going to work in India or football.

@souravindia It is world wide known supporters club stay longer, but in India you only have a handful of supporter club (I meant club with considerable history and support). You can't have a suitable league with just 4-5 supporter teams. Moreover every club needs to start from zero supporter someday.

So be a corporate club or supporter club, the life of it is based on revenue generated from the supporters. Hence if corporate clubs like BFC can generate the support once can expect it grow. But for that you need to start somewhere. And based on the current condition I feel having a corporate club is the best way to go. But one needs to do good study before they invest, not like KBFC.

Lets get something straight, Clubs failing or folding in I-league has nothing to do with ISL, It was always happening since the days of JCT & Mahindra. Now with Pune & Bharat.
Am sure people will have common sense that by chucking ISL out doesnt make your I-league better. It was and will be a average product. Thats the harsh truth mate.

@DX. "it was & will be an avg product" is more by design, when NFL was launched, we didn't have the vision on how a proper pro league should be conceptualised and run even though J league was showing just how it needed to be done just around the corner. We rebranded it and still had no clue of running a pro league...the problem is that #Aiff officials look 1st at how much they will personally make and only then at how it will help the league to grow. #ISL is a godsend for them as #IMG ensures all contracts are given to the "right" companies but sadly #ISL was designed as an entertainment product incidentally playing football and we are stuck with ileague also. #AIFF has done everything possible to make it very difficult for ileague to survive. In an ideal world we would have ISL like A league/j league where clubs would be real clubs doing India proud in Asia not the joke they are currently...existing only to entertain the urban yuppies who are passionate about Chelsea / barca etc....I also personally feel that All ileague clubs should just quit the ileague in its present form and form a league like EPL WAS DONE...lets call the #AIFF bluff....whats the worst that could happen? India won't. Be allowed. In FIFA tournaments...big deal.....The NT won't get 5000 supporters at any #ISL stronghold (chennai/pune/mumbai..etc) proving my point that ISL does exactly zilch for indian football..but a great alternative to a Salman Khan movie with family
