Dempo Sports Club will not be in a position to compete in the I-League even if the All India Football Federation (AIFF) offers them a backdoor entry into India's premier football competition - Srinivas Dempo
I think its a positive sign by both PuneFC and Dempo....they have clearly told #AIFF that unless there's a plan for ileague, they don't want to participate in the farce. If only Kolkata clubs and BFC could follow suit...still feel its better not to have the ileague this year untild IMG's intention becomes clear.
Also I am curious about Srinivas Dempo statement (although I support it), why is he refusing the offer to come back in ileague?....@gaffertape what is the gossip amongst the aiff babus and what is the instructions from img?
Srinivas Dempo's statement is absolutely businesslike and right. Once relegated, Dempo FC have fixed a vision and budget for Div II. They formed team accordingly. Now suddenly, if AIFF ask them to fill the numbers in Div I, they rightly refuse as they won't be able to do justice to their name in such a short time.
AIFF could have looked for the extra team in the 2nd division itself (promote 2 instead of 1, that is). But then that team would also not be prepared for it. Most probably, the second team would not fulfill AFC criteria as well.
