Yes for National Games. This Trivandrum Stadium will be used primarily for Opening and Closing Ceremony. Football will not be played there. Football will be played at Thissur and Calicut. Lets see how they use Trivandrum Stadium after National Games. Will it have Athletics Track? Will they use it for Cricket??
Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is essentially a main stadium for Athletics, opening and Closing ceremony for big events like Commonwealth Games, Asian Games. Football Specific stadium was always Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi. Delhi never had a club in I-League, NFL. It was due to efforts of Ajay Maken,former Sports Minister, that they were able to use Nehru Stadium for Football.
Interestingly, salt lake Stadium was also used for Athletics in SAF Games. I wonder how they use it now for any other game besides Football once artificial turf is put there?
