@atuljg You cannot compare apples and oranges. You are comparing Trivandrum Greenfield cost to JLN delhi? JLN Capacity is more. JLN has roof design. JLN has Athletics track. JLN has indoor stadium with pool and events like weightlifting were held there. JLN has offices of different Sports authorities, Convention centers. Basically it is nerve center of running sports in India. There are lodging facilities for athletes there. That coupled with special Metro station and Tunnel system. You are making fun of that and comparing it with Trivandrum Greenfield stadium which has no athletics, no indoor stadium, no offices or convention centers? After given free land, private company of greenfield failed to complete the stadium in time. Any sports event was organised in Greenfield stadium for National Games? answer is NO.Only mud and darkness where opening and closing ceremonies were held. Greenfield stadium due to its circular shape should instead try to organise Cricket matches and leave Football to Kochi, Calicut and Mallapuram. The problem is that Cricket associations will not pay so much rental.
@munna219777 Why cricket ? Kochi stadium is also circular in shape ,if you r referring to the blasters friendly ,it was held on a tuesday ,still 20k people made it to the stadium and 60 % of the people who came to watch the matches in kochi were from north and neighboring districts , it's a wrong perception that tvm is not really into football ,About the rent acc to malayalam media it was solved amicably and turkmenistan friendly will most probably be held there and i agree that we cannot compare JLN to Greenfield Tvm, JLN is like the baap of all stadiums in India
@munna I didn't compare JLN with Greenfield. After the Commonwealth scam, I will not believe that the entire 950 crores were spent on JLN. It's definitely inflated.
@munna21977 and now you're going after IL&FS, a company that has made a significant change in Trivandrum roads. When Trivandrum roads are concerned, it's like before IL&FS and after IL&FS.
Greenfield stadium will be under IL&FS only till 2027 regardless of when the construction started or finished. After that it's the property of Kerala University. IL&FS started construction in early 2012 and finished in early 2015 which is not bad at all.
Even before the contract was signed, the government and National Games Secretariat had no intention to conduct matches at Greenfield. Greenfield conducted the opening and closing ceremonies in style. The pitch was not prepared to protect it but they used interlocking Stadium flooring, not mud as you're accusing.
Darkness??? Are you smoking something? It had one of the best floodlights around.
JLN is and will remain the baap of all stadiums in India. No stadium can match the facilities that JLN offers. And I say this after first hand visit to the stadium during commonwealth games as well as ISL games. It is tremendous. Beautifully constructed. Just that its an athletic stadium. If the pitch was a little closer, not even rectangular, it can be oval shaped like old macarana, would have been amazing for football. Still, the distance is not that much. Probably 20 odd metres or so. Looks big in pictures. In reality, the distance is not that great.
