Chennai is Ok but the distance between ground and stands at both YBK and JLN is just too much.

@EastBengalPride It can be made a lot better if played in a football specific stadium. I don't like football being played in an athletic stadium.

Athletics seriously don't deserve these giant stadiums for games that happen once in one or two decades. They could have built a smaller 10000 capacity Balewadi model stadium for Athletics and a Giant football specific stadium instead.

However, JLN Delhi can be excused as it's the  epicenter of alternative sports in India.

WB govt doesn't have money to build a giant football stadium. They didn't have it in the 80s and not now.

    Yeah they basically crowdfunded YBK.

But a stadium does not need to be a 'giant' one. A 10-20,000 capacity would be fine, capacity can be added on later. Though even that would need heavy subsidies, which would be difficult in today's priority list of the Government. More difficult is to muster the political will for it.

atmosphere in stadium also depends upon the telecast. If you don't use microphone in stands you will surely miss the vibe. also our stands are poorly lit. which gives a false impression that gallery is sitting , obviously the tv viewers will miss the actions like dancing, abusing, showing frustration , showing grief , showing love , boos, cheers, madness, banners and lots of other activities in stands during derby. Don't take it otherwise, but I have visited vybk during ISL ( 2014 edition ) also, and stadium was far less noisy then. Only thing crowd was doing is to chant ATK ATk when the public address system was leading them, that to for only 30 secs or so in each 10 mins. At entrance ATK management also provided us two balloon type things , and instructed us to struck them in a particular fashion , or rhythm. That was a good idea but, but it was producing very low pitch irritating kind of sound. I hope this year's ambience was lot better. Also the ATK fan club should start some serious work from now on. our EB ultras are doing excellent job. anthem, chants but a very little members 40-50. They should do one thing, they should deploy a team of 5 to particular stands and initiate chants with a hand Mike. Anyway the point is how Kolkata derby looks like in TV isn't the real picture what it actually is. It is a sheer delirium.

He should have suggested Malappuram and Chandigarh instead of Srinagar, Rohtak.

By centre of excellence and a permanent home,  does Patel mean Indias own miniature version of Wembley or a place to conduct camps?

With the suggested places being Srinagar and Rohtak I isn't hard to guess @ atuljg. I would have prefered it to be in bangalore/shillong/goa so that NT can train in the same city for matches.....
