@ashindia I'm with you on that his performance is taking a hit!! But I wouldn't single out Thapa for this game. The wingers were not doing anything. BD kept it compact in the middle kudos to them!
I was praying Anas gets injured again for everyone's good. We were pathetic from defence and there will be no transition if we are playing from the back and we have a shitty back line.
No, Thapa just had a bad day. He tried influencing the game with his trademark through passes but today he either hit them too hard or they were blocked by opponent players. If you ask me, thapa just like chettri was trying to take too much responsibility upon himself to improve India's game, partly to compensate for the horrible performance of his team mates. Thapa has been consistent in his play in all other matches. It was just a bad day for him.
Same cannot be said however for the likes of Udanta, Ashique, Bheke who have been consistently poor in all their matches. Today was no exception for them. Players like Sahal, Chettri, Brandon tried to do flashy things individually but not as a team. No understanding between them on where to pass and where to position themselves to receive the ball in the box. Manvir and Anas were really, really bad and not deserving of international football (or even national one). Adil made a blooper but was ok after that.
Mandar was ineffective, partly because he is NOT a left back! When you ask an attacking midfielder to play as a defensive full back, such performances are bound to come out. We need specialist defenders like subhashish, nishu kumar (and some for RBs). GSS was again horrible today but it was a one off day for him. Generally he is good.
