    2018 World Cup is too early to expect. <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->

    2022 WC is realistic chance for India. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

    Dude its not uefa or concacaf or even south america that India cant make it to 2018 finals.The thing is that we r in the weakest confed on the planet the afc, so if we tighten up our socks and start planning properly we we'll be in with a realistic chance.after all 7 years is a long time.

    dude ash although i agree with u absolutely that the S.E Asian countries r ahead than us in footballing terms .But u have to take the fact in account that these are footballing nations .But still have a progressed to a level just above India in spite of huge resources both financially and population wise.So for a start they might be good reference point but we have to aim higher if we want to reach higher like Iraq,uae for starters.

    Thailand and Huge Finance ?? <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

    Whether you agree or not but South East Asian Nations are closest we can compare ourselves with. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

    Current Iraqi players are of very high level,cause they were bought up in good youth set-up before the war etc.Well about UAE,they have abundant financial resources.They are economically classified as one of the richest countries in the world.No point in expecting AIFF to deliver something like that

    For 100 years people couldn't change anything,so starters itself are a mammoth task for AIFF. <!-- s:mrgreen: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":mrgreen:" title="Mr. Green" /><!-- s:mrgreen: -->
    HA HA yes Thailand are by far the most wealthy state in south east Asia along with Malaysia (Singapore too small to be counted).Their league is by far the strongest in S.E Asia.and have been the most successful S.E Asian nation reaching the u-17 world cup.But that is not the point i m trying to make i m simply saying that all these nations are footballing nations and with their resources going only and only into football their level is still not where it should be,so better try emulating a country which was like India 15 years back..Uzbekistan out of nowhere in the last 10 years their football has come up with the right planning and strategy.proof-in 2000 Asian cup beaten by japan 9-0 now look at their standard.

    In an ideal world these r the countries that should make it to the world cup i(f they had their act together).

    INDIA
    CHINA
    IRAN
    SAUDI ARABIA
    and of course japan and Korea are always there.
  • Long way to go but here r some of the players who r going to shape up indian football for the next decade.

    A little arbitrary, no, this selection? In 2018, Sunil will still be playing but will be pretty old. And, why only highlight Jeje and Lalridika from the Arrows? Raju Gaekwad has performed far better than anyone else on the team (with the possible exception of Jeje). Lalridika is younger, sure, but he's definitely behind Jewel, Jibon and Shilton in the pecking order for the midfield. For an article to be substantive, you'd at least want to discuss 20 players, the entire U-23 team, perhaps. Gilbert and Robin Singh surely merit mention.

    As to India in 2018, to qualify they have to get their act together in 2015/2016, which is when qualification will take place. That only leaves us 4 years to get there. Not impossible, but highly unrealistic. Ideally, we want to at least make it to the group stages of the Olympic qualifiers so we can compare ourselves to the top Asian teams and then we can make a realistic call.
  • Hey guys i m sure u guys r as big optimists as me.so lets discuss things which India needs to do to make to Brazil 2018 and what are the things that need to change so that the one and only dream of a Indian fan becomes a reality.

    hey dude... 2018 fifa world cup is in Russia and not Brazil... <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->
    Brazil's one is in 2014... anyhow we can't dream abut 2014, brazil... hopefully we shuld be in a position to make it to the final round in asian level for 2018... then later on we can think abut 2022 wc.. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

    have u seen Lalrindika playing? with smaller teams anyone can play... and can score goals...
    just see his style of play against Japan in asian games..

    Disagree. AFC might not have the strongest teams in world but it's very, very competitive. Either way AFC has better teams than Concacaf. If you consider the number of nations/number of slots ratio then AFC is clearly most difficult. Also consider teams like Japan, Korea and Australia who will capture three places every WC. Competition is defnitely higher in Asia.
