India have a tough task ahead of them. Iraq will be a tough one but not impossible. There under-23 team play in the Olympic Qualifiers right before AFC Qualifiers and they have never qualified for the Olympics. Plus they just lost to Japan U23 3-0 in a Friendly just 1 week ago. Also there U19s dont seem that impressive. UAE were amateur in my opinion in the AFC U19 Qualifiers, they still made it but ended in 2nd in there group. I dont see THAT MUCH of a battle from them. Oman will most likely be guys who will play our senior team later this month. The other two I am not worrying about. My prediction is that if India get a smart coach (someone LIKE Colim Toal) and select the right players then I am sure of qualification but end in 2nd in our group.
Thats a great squad but I think none of these players wud be selected because this is mostly our previous u-23 squad..I think new players from Pailan and others wud be given a chance this time as these players are already developed..afterall the main idea is to have more players getting exposure and getting ready for the national team..but I hope we play this squad coz I want some good results for the team and the team to win respect in ASIA

Barely anyone from Pailan deserves to be on the India U22 team. If we want to be a successful football country we have to take these tournaments and act like other teams who bring there best youth team with them. You dont see teams like England or Japan using there still developing youth who are new. They bring in the experienced youth players.

u are right but am just going by AIFF's trends for the last few years..infact even the last time when u-23 team was selected from arrows it wasnt the best possible team..it was way too young to be even the u-23 team..however these guys have really matured now and wud love to see them play against these top teams and even beat them <!-- s:handgestures-thumbup: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/handgestures/thumbup.gif" alt=":handgestures-thumbup:" title="Thumb Up" /><!-- s:handgestures-thumbup: -->

Also I bet now with Robert Baan he will tell the AIFF not to do what they have been doing.
if we are able to send all those available players who were part of saff cup victory with u-23 side along with the inclusion of some best performers in i-league ,pailan arrows and u-19 then we could end up,if not in top 2, but at least at best 3rd positioned team

The Uzbeks are in with a chance but I think that Japan will come back a reclaim there title.
