Having followed Indian football for more than a couple dozen years, I seriously think club football DESERVES better coverage. Technically, the clubs have better quality than the national team, are a pleasure to watch compared to the national team given that at least the top 5 clubs do most of the basics right and have some skillful foreign players. Unfortunately, all games of top 7-8 clubs in the I league are not televised, if not live, at least recorded. I know a lot of people who would rather watch Dempo or East Bengal's game as opposed to the shit the national team dishes out against opposition, even slightly better than SAFF level. Many might argue the club's pathetic performance at the AFC level but having watched most of the games of Calcutta based teams, I think if they seriously prepare for the AFC qualifying, at least as much as the national team does, the results would be far better. The clubs usually focus more on the I league as opposed to AFC, no wonder they loose most games closely.<br><br>The current senior team is no better than SAFF level. The U22 crop of players are promising but they still have miles to go, more so in the mental aspect of the game. <br><br><br>

<br><div><br></div><div>I many ways I agree with you. We need more coverage, period. So far I feel the right way to get that coverage is through more fan-friendly activities, local community support, youth development and most of all a good internet based connection. If we can perfect that in I-League than the fan support among die hards will grow, player development will get better which in also brings in more coverage and thus more casual fan support. I know it is not as easy as that but something along those lines.</div><div><br></div><div>As for national team vs. international. That is what happens when you have most of your internationals in the domestic league. You get that feel that a team from your league can beat the national team.</div>
why not let the local cable tv guys cover it regionally and stream it via AIFF website.. ??<br>
<br><div><br></div><div>for that thing to happen....aiff need to allow the respective clubs to search for their own broadcast partners....sadly aiff/img dont allow clubs to keep their own broadcasting set or channels.</div><div><br></div><div>the example was pune fc who were asked to not share the videos of their matches which was bit unprofessional from IMG guys</div>
