Is the club going to be able to cpmplete the renovation of the stands at the maidan....any idea of any facilities for players training going to be upgraded, now that they are national champions?
@Deepakc, I think it depends on the mentality of the officials and their priorities. They would search for cosponsors to service the higher budget. Facilities will take a backseat. Though the management's stated policy is to arrange at least CFL matches in the club ground ( particularly when their neighbours are also aiming that -- no one wants to lag behind).
Deb_Ban.. its upto the Fans to start demanding better from officials. A little media pressure and they are likely to relent. Surely a part of the annual budget needs to be dedicated to facilities and infra. The training base could be named after a sponsor to generate revenue but it is a minimum for a club which wants to well in Asia and ileague next year. Hope the fans take it up seriously with the officials. I feel that the office and general admin area could be built under the concrete stands in the maidan, but the training for the football team has to be in a dedicated/exclusive field. If 1 of the clubs do it, all others will follow.
''The incident took place at aqua marina at hoogly where a group of mb supporters came out to celebrate their recent success according to eye witnesses, there was free flow of wine n verbal abused some women from other groups took offense n brought it to the notice of other members of group soon there were exchange of words n local bouncers had to intervene some of the women brought the cases of sexual harassment against a few drunk supporters on the other hand, bagan supporters claimed that bouncers badmouthed mohun bagan which turned the situation from bad to worse some of mariners were beaten to pulp police reached the spot soon n brought the situation under control.''
Oldest football club in India? Maybe oldest professional club but Dalhousie AC for example was started in 1880.
I agree with the article though at the end of what they should probably do. Who knows how to properly fix the club and with the I-League the way it is who knows but the first step, IMO, is to turn both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan football clubs into separate entities.
