I don't understand how Mihun Bagan can't generate it's own revenues. This season they had an average attendance of 35000 for their home games. That means that revenue gate receipts should be in crores. Also they can earn revenue by selling branded merchandise. They can easily become the richest club in the country given the kind of support they have.
Why can't AIFF encourage corporations like kalyani to invest in these clubs? Though it's not the function of the federation but it's way better than giving licenses for the sake of increasing the number of participants.
@nikhil Because AIFF is not like cash rich BCCI. The president of AIFF Mr. Praful Patel had good relations with the corporate sector when he was Heavy Industries minister under the UPA government.
For Indian companies to invest in the sports sector they need financial as well as government support in the long run. They need land for infrastructure, tax free benefits and other freebies so as to maintain it properly. There are a lot of bureaucratic hurdles such as corruption which takes time to solve and companies cannot do it without government support.
