Team India’s Preparatory Camp for the upcoming World Cup Qualifier against UAE kicked-off on Wednesday at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi.
India play UAE in the World Cup Qualifier on July 23 (away-match) and the home match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on July 28.
The Boys under the watchful eyes of Armando Colaco had morning and evening session on Thursday.
‘’ I am very happy that the players are able to adjust with the style of play I want to enforce in the team,’’ said National Coach, Armando Colaco after the training.
‘’ We will need to work more on the physical fitness,’’ he added.
With a mixture of experienced and young players in the roster, the Goan coach is looking to get the act right prior to the series of International Friendlies, which begins in July. India play Maldives on July 10, while they take on Qatar on July 17.
While the talks are on to squeeze in two more International Friendlies during the period.
Climax Lawrence has been one of the key players for India over the years and is looking forward to the camp. The Goan lad is all aware of the style of play National Coach wants to enforce in the team as he has the privilege to play under Armando Colaco.
The Dempo midfielder believes that it is great chance for the youngsters to prove themselves after they have had successful stint with their respective clubs in the recently concluded I-League.
‘’It’s a new beginning and I am looking forward to it,’’ he said. ‘’We need to prepare very well for the World Cup qualifier against UAE as they are a very good side,’’ said Climax.
‘’ The stress will be more to play the possession game football,’’. He added.
As a senior member of the squad, he is all set to offer all the necessary help to the juniors and believes that the experience is going to help them to mature as a player.
‘’ The camp is going to help the juniors a lot in terms of experience and the senior members of the team needs to guide them well,’’ said Climax.
‘’I don’t think, it would be difficult for any player to adjust with the new style of play, ‘’ he added.
‘’Also the experience in the International Friendlies lined –up next month will benefit the team to prepare well ahead of the crucial tie against UAE,’’ said the Dempo midfielder.
Attending his first Senior National Camp, Harmanjot Khabra was elated to be a part of the team and hopes that he will be able to utilise the opportunity very well.
‘’it’s a great feeling to be a part of the Camp, but at the same time I look forward to cash in on the opportunity and do well in the camp,’’ said the East Bengal midfielder.

‘’We have a good set of players. All we need is to gel well together and work hard ahead of the UAE match,’’ said the former Sporting Kansas striker.
‘’Mr. Armando Colaco has done wonders with Dempo and I am all aware of the style of play having played for Dempo two years back,’’ Chettri added.
‘’ All the players are very good and everyone has to put their best foot forward in the camp,’’ He further added.
‘’We played very well in the AFC Challenge Cup in Malaysia and it’s good that the coach has decided to have the same set of players. The right combination helps the team to prepare well,’’ he commented.
Mehtab Hussain hard work and consistent performance in the I-League earned him a place in the Camp and the midfielder is quite happy with the progress.
‘’ I feel great to be a part of the camp. Armando Sir is one of the good coaches we have in the country right now and the results over the years speaks for him,’’ said Mehtab.
‘’There are lots of variations in the practice and I am enjoying a lot.’’
‘’It was five years back when I played my last game for India against Yemen in the same ground. Things have changed in a very good manner. The facilities are very good and we are more professional now as compared to past,’’ said the East Bengal midfielder speaking to media after the training session.
Samir Naik is not new to the style of play, National Coach, Armando Colaco wants to enforce in the team having played for Dempo SC for 12 years.
‘’I have played for Dempo for 12 years and am very much acquainted with the style of the play,’’ said Samir to mediapersons on the sixth day of the Preparatory Camp.
The Preparatory Camp for the upcoming World Cup Qualifier against UAE is in full swing at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi and analysing the training sessions so far, the experienced defender sounded positive and said,’’ The mood in the camp is very good and the players are in good rhythm. As you can see we are gelling well together now. It’s a great opportunity for the youngsters and they will need to prove themselves.’’
Having played an integral part in Dempo SC’s success over the years, the Goan lad feels that, it’s only the hard work that will count as UAE are a very strong side.

Meanwhile, two players in the national camp – Francis Fernandes and Gurwinder Singh – will leave the camp due to injuries, AIFF sources said. The condition of Valeriano Rebello, who too suffered a hamstring injury a couple of days back, would be monitored closely, the official added.
